Aaron Rodgers Takes Jets’ Rookie Malachi Corley Under His Wing With Generous Offer to Help Him Settle in the City

Aaron Rodgers, despite his Achilles tear last season, has been an eminent part of the New York Jets. The 4x NFL MVP supported his team off the court through occasional visits and to deliver pearls of wisdom. His role in the unit has been more than the veteran, star quarterback, Rodgers has showcased the spirit of guidance and mentorship.
Putting on a similar cape, in an unexpected show of leadership, Rodgers has offered rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley a place to stay in his guest house. “Malachi Corley said he’s been texting Aaron Rodgers quite a bit asking about football, life, mental health,” reported Connor Hughes of SNY. “Rodgers has been receptive to it. He invited Corley to live in his guest house if he wants.”
Corley originally mentioned on April 26 that he spoke with Rodgers about staying in his guest house once training camp begins and now reports suggest he might be excited to take up the offer. “I’m just like a little kid talking to him all the time, texting him, trying to see what he’s done to stay consistent in the league,” Corley admitted to a reporter. “He’s an adult. He’s the MVP, Hall of Famer, all those types of things.”

Additionally, highlighting his bond with the veteran QB, Malachi Corley said, “He said I could stay in his guest house with him if I wanted to, so, yeah me and him are close. That’s going to be my dawg while I’m here. No doubt.” This move transcends a simple housing arrangement.

It’s Rodgers putting his stamp on a new era in New York, one built on mentorship over hierarchies. A far cry from his “lone wolf” label with the Packers, the veteran is embracing a guiding role to nurture the Jets’ future stars. While Rodgers imparts wisdom, Malachi Corley brings a punishing style that could supercharge the Jets attack. The third-round pick out of Western Kentucky was labeled the “YAC King” for his ability to pile up yards after catch.

Talking about his prowess on the field, young Corley said, “I think every time I get the ball in my hands, I’m just ready to punish somebody every single time I get it. That’s the way I like to play the game.” His physical mentality jumped off the tape for Coach Robert Saleh who remarked, “He never runs out of bounds…That extra one or two yards, every yard matters.”
Additionally, the coach added, “He is raw from a route-running ability standpoint. We’re obviously attacking that. Getting him the ball and the creativity that comes with it, I think we’re all having a lot of fun looking at ways to get him the ball.”

If the staunch mentality and Saleh’s confidence were not enough to ensure the WR’s skills, the stats cement the claim. The 22-year-old finished the college football with 3033 yards and 29 touchdowns. These elements add critical dimensions to the Jet’s offense in key situations from Corley’s side. While full team practices are still to come, the early eyes have been evaluating his rawness as a route runner.

Irrespective, drafted 65th overall, Corley stated, “I think I’ve hardly scratched the potential of who I am as a player.” With Rodgers’ assistance and an intent to learn from vets like Garrett Wilson, the “YAC King” is meant to take the Jet’s offense by storm in 2024.
