Josh Allen led the Bills to a 31-21 win over the Dolphins, pushing Buffalo to a strong 3-0 start. With momentum building, one NFL veteran has urged coach Sean McDermott to protect his star quarterback. Meanwhile, there’s also concern about a post-play gesture from Allen that could lead to a penalty.

Former quarterback and Hall of Famer Steve Young emphasized how important it is for Josh Allen to stop trying to be Superman.”Josh was trying to be Superman. Please, Bills offense, give him some help so he doesn’t have to be Superman all the time. When you have to be Superman all the time, things go haywire again. You have to be able to calm your mind and not be Superman every play. Everyone needs help,” he said on Dan Patrick Show.

Sean McDermott needs to hear this.
On paper, the Bills are 3-0, but they rely too much on Josh Allen. If they face a strong defense, his solo efforts won’t be enough. He has done the heavy lifting so far, but the rest of the team needs to step up.
Case in point: the Dolphins game. The wide receiver room basically vanished for long stretches. Not outright terrible, just… invisible. And that’s not what you want when you’ve got an MVP-caliber QB firing lasers.
Instead, it was Dalton Kincaid (5 for 66 and a score) and James Cook (19 carries, 108 yards, a TD) doing the heavy lifting.
Meanwhile, Keon Coleman managed just 3 for 20, Elijah Moore chipped in 2 for 30. Serviceable numbers, but hardly the playmaking Allen needs when the game tightens up. And in the third quarter, when Miami’s defense finally clamped down, Buffalo’s receivers couldn’t shake free.
That left Allen scrambling, literally, to keep the offense afloat.
The 29-year-old has thrown for 755 yards, 5 touchdowns, and no interceptions in just three games. He has completed 69 of 99 passes, pure dominance. But if Allen is ever sidelined or off his game, coach Sean McDermott needs the rest of the offense to step up.
McDermott was clearly worried when Allen took a hit to the nose in Week 2 against the Jets. Without him, the offense just doesn’t look the same. And now, there is talk he might face a fine, or even a suspension, after the post-play gesture.
Josh Allen faces a possible punishment from the NFL
Josh Allen produced yet another masterclass this week, racking up 213 yards and three touchdowns. While he was at it, he went for 22/28 completions and added 25 rushing yards. But there was something else he did that might prove to be a little too costly for his pocket. Or, in the worst-case scenario, for the Bills.
Yes, things got a little spicy after the whistle.
A video from the game shows Allen flashing what some are calling a “handgun” gesture at a Dolphins player after getting up from the tackle. If the league thinks it crossed the line, he could be looking at a fine just in time for Week 4’s showdown with the Saints. And although it is very unlikely, maybe a suspension.
The NFL isn’t going too easy on the players this season. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens each got hit with a $14,191 fine for similar hand gestures in their Week 2 win. Even Travis Kelce joined the club, coughing up the same amount for an “obscene gesture.” They’re keeping a strong eye on sideline theatrics. And Josh Allen might be the next victim.
Some say Allen was just pointing to signal a first down, a common move. But the NFL might not see it that way. A suspension isn’t likely, but in this league, anything can happen.
