All eyes will be on Washington Commanders‘ wide receiver, Terry McLaurin, after he sustained a quad injury during the Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. His injury leaves a big question mark on the team’s lineup. He left the field with a 56-yard catch with 4:47 remaining in the third quarter. And now uncertainty looms as he battles to recover in time for the next showdown on Sunday.

Terry McLaurin is uncertain to play in Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Multiple reports say McLaurin is seeking additional medical opinions for the quad injury he suffered during the Week 3 win over the Raiders, so his Week 4 status is still unclear. McLaurin had to leave the game in the second half after going down near the 1-yard line on a reception. He played about 60% of the team’s offensive snaps in that game. So far this season, he has caught 10 passes for 149 yards in three games.

If McLaurin could not play against the Falcons, the Commanders would have to move forward with Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, and Chris Moore at wide receiver. WR Noah Brown‘s availability is also uncertain, as he wasn’t at any of the practice sessions with the team due to his groin injury sustained in week 2 against the Green Bay Packers. Struggles of Washington increase as they were already missing quarterback Jayden Daniels after he too suffered a knee sprain in the game against the Packers.
Although there isn’t any official statement for McLaurin’s injury but Dan Quinn gives an update on Daniels’ injury. “We’re still listing him as day to day, and then as we get into Wednesday, I’ll be more qualified to hit on what types of practice and what we can hit on to go,” Quinn said about the backup QB Marcus Mariota. He was called to fill in for Daniels in the matchup against the Raiders, where he had a productive outing.

Taking things gradually with Jayden Daniels
Dan Quinn confirmed that Daniels remains day-to-day with his knee issue. The head coach explained they are approaching his recovery gradually, with a chance to increase his workload throughout the week before making a final call. “So he went through some things today, some more tomorrow, and that’ll lead us up into Wednesday. But when we get together prior to practice, I’ll have a better idea for the plan. We’ve not nailed that down for the week as yet,” Dan Quinn via Sportskeeda
This update echoed fans’ concerns, suggesting Daniels’ return to the lineup could take longer than hoped. Still, the Commanders are confident they are following the right process to get him back to full strength. If Daniels and McLaurin have to sit out another week, the Commanders will have to adjust. While it’s not the ideal scenario, especially with the Falcons eager to get revenge for last year’s overtime loss after being shut out by Carolina, it’s more important to prioritize the long-term outlook for both Daniels and McLaurin.
Receivers like Luke McCaffrey and Jaylin Lane could see an expansion in their roles for the Commanders. While the NFL is about the “next man up” mentality, the Commanders seem to work out their injury-prone season just fine with potential replacements.
