The wait for Dan Quinn to win the coach of the year has just got a little further away from this grasp.

After the Thursday night 27-18 loss against the Green Bay Packers, the Washington Commanders‘ performance has raised many eyebrows and has put the coaching staff under heavy scrutiny.
Former Commanders HC Jay Gruden voiced his opinion about the O-line. His words scrutinized the O-line for failing at its job. Their inability to protect their QB, Jayden Daniels, who later sustained a knee injury.

“I don’t really see a lot of movement, a lot of physicality with them, you know. They’ve shuffled so many parts. Leremy Tunsil coming out as the left tackle and moving Brandon Coleman to left guard. You know, the right tackles, left tackle in college. I don’t know. I just think it’s going to take some time for this offense to line to gel…I don’t know what they’re going to do about it. They’re just not very good right now, playing together.”
Jay Gruden, who served as the head coach of the Redskins from 2015-2019, is much more simplistic and sticks to the conventional plays, especially when he addressed Coleman being moved to left guard.

Apart from this, he had a very strong opinion on offensive tackle Joshua Conerly Jr.
“I just don’t know if he’s ready for right tackle. I think this could be some time,” Jay replied when asked about considering moving offensive tackle Andrew Wiley to right tackle, which is where he’s playing now.
In Week 1, Conerly stood up against the New York Giants‘ defensive line, where he saw a lot of Brian Burns. Week 2 turned out even more rough for him when he was matched up with defensive end Micah Parsons.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Dan Quinn's coaching strategy failing the Commanders, or is it just a rough patch?
Have an interesting take?
With such strong analysis and sharp commentary, it appears Dan Quinn looked totally outcoached against the Packers.
Matt LeFleur clearly outsmarted him at every turn, while Washington’s game plan was all wrong from the start. The offense was super slow, taking way too long per play, and the play calling was weak. No urgency, no smart adjustments, and embarrassing clock management before halftime. It was obvious the Commanders had no game plan, and Quinn didn’t do anything to fix it.
Who will lead the Commanders if Jayden Daniels sits out?
Jayden Daniels got hurt during Washington’s 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.
The Packers’ defense was blitzing all game, and Daniels was under a lot of pressure; he got sacked four times.
In the fourth quarter, he took a big hit to his knee while scrambling, and fans noticed he was limping with a knee brace after the game. Dan Quinn, the Commanders’ coach, said on Monday that Daniels, last year’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, has a knee sprain and might not play in the next game.

“He did have an MRI and he has already begun his return-to-play process with us. He is truly day to day. What does that mean for Sunday? I can’t tell you that now,” Quinn said during a video conference with reporters. “We’ll have more to share on that when we get to Wednesday.”
His status for Sunday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders is up in the air. The Commanders are 1-1, and while they’ve had a long break, they’re watching Daniels’ progress closely in practice.
Against Green Bay, Daniels finished the game even after the injury, going 24 for 42 passing for 200 yards and tossing two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He only managed 17 rushing yards on seven carries, showing he wasn’t able to run like usual.
Coach Quinn said he might not decide who will start at quarterback until Friday. Marcus Mariota is the backup and is most likely to take over if Daniels sits out on Sunday.

“Our confidence in him is through the roof,” Quinn said, expressing his trust in Mariota.
Until then, the Commanders’ camp hopes that Quinn and his coaching staff will be prepared for Week 3. The Commanders will have bought into the game plan with a new QB to lead them.
