The New York Jets visited the Pittsburgh Steelers with a point to prove. On one hand, you got a QB that has the New York Jets running around in frenzy, and on the other; you got a QB in Russell Wilson who caused a lot of drama in the Steelers locker room. But first, let’s talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steel City fans really don’t know what to make of Justin Fields’ benching, but Chris Collinsworth knows exactly what it is.

Will Russell Wilson retain the starting quarterback job in the Pittsburgh Steelers after this game? Well, those are the exact answers that Mike Tomlin is looking for. Per Collinsworth, who’s calling the Steelers-Jets game, this is just the head coach’s way of gauging the future and settling the quarterback debate for good. But this approach does seem like Tomlin has taken the matter into his own hands.

“He wanted to make sure that he controlled that narrative and the only way to truly do that was to figure out if Russell Wilson was the answer to this..” Collinsworth said on the live broadcast. So far, Russell Wilson hasn’t been half-bad in the first half of the game. He completed 8 of his 17 passes over 145 yards and even threw an 11-yard TD pass to George Pickens.

Pickens, who got a lot of hate in the game against the Dallas Cowboys seems to be back to his usual self and has made a significant impact on the game early on. But while the Steelers head coach has been very supportive of Russell Wilson, we saw Justin Fields all kitted up and with his helmet on the sidelines. He seems ready to go anytime.

Let’s talk about the Jets’ side of things now. Though Davante Adams is reunited with Aaron Rodgers he hasn’t made much of an impact in the game. In fact, the New York team is just managing to stay afloat despite his presence.

New York Jets are off to a dynamic start?

Chris Boswell helped the Pittsburgh Steelers to initially put 3 points on the board to open the game, but the Jets found a way to score when Breece Hall ran for a 13-yard touchdown with 2:27 remaining in the first quarter. Then, Boswell came in handy again at the start of the second quarter when he knocked down another field goal.

Later, Rodgers replied to the Steelers with a one-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Conklin, who was wide open in the end zone. The 4x MVPs TD pass put the Jets ahead by nine points and it was at this point when Russell Wilson threw a touchdown pass to George Pickens.

It’s really hard to describe the trajectory of this game, but one thing is clear, while Mike Tomlin is testing the waters by replacing his quarterback, the New York Jets have more pressure. That’s because they are 2-4 and Rodgers has all the pressure to succeed after reuniting with his longtime friend Davante Adams and everything being practically handed over to him by the Jets organization.
