Only a few can win this battle and even fewer win this battle thrice. Legendary broadcaster, Dick Vitale, is in the latter category now. The 84-year-old has been associated with multiple sports throughout his career, but he will be known for winning this crucial battle against cancer.

Vitale had been dealing with throat cancer issues since 2021, losing his voice in the process but never his charm and grit. And now, the legend ignited the world with this message of coming back on social media.

Never the one to accept defeat, Vitale posted his successful triumph against cancer on X (formerly Twitter). The overjoyed broadcaster not only thanked his well-wishers for their support and love after a cancer-free PET scan report. But he also made a quick jibe on the entire process as well.

“Now need my voice to recover from 35 Radiation treatment”, wrote Vitale. He referenced the radiation treatments required to eliminate cancerous cells from the organs. This extremely painful process also damages the organs. And his vocal cords took most of the damage.

But Vitale is not the type to back down. Rest and rehabilitation will be on the menu for the veteran and maybe in no time, we will have him back calling for our sports soon enough.
