The Philadelphia Eagles secured one of the craziest victories in the NFL 2025 season so far. After being 19 points behind the Rams at one point, they ended up defeating Los Angeles by a score of 33-26. The victory not only continued the Eagles’ unbeaten streak but also marked Philadelphia’s first game with two blocked field goals since Sept. 21, 1975. Eagles defensive end Jalen Carter and defensive tackle Jordan Davis blocked the field goals today. While the victory blanketed the team’s struggles against the Rams, there was one player who could not match the sky-high expectations of the fans.

The Eagles have not been able to utilize Saquon Barkley‘s abilities to the fullest. His stats show a dip from the previous year. A player who ran 2500 yards last year averages just 3.3 this season. It’s been three games since they have not been able to get their star running back to perform as per the expectations. He only ran for 60 yards on 18 carries against the Cowboys. Then, in a potential Super Bowl rematch against Kansas City, he had a respectable but still low 88 yards on 22 carries. In his most recent game against the Rams, he was held to a quiet 46 yards on 18 attempts.

Initially, the Eagles’ passing attack appeared to be the problem. This gave the defense the luxury of stacking the box and focusing entirely on shutting down Barkley. But after the second half, Jalen Hurts took the role upon himself and turned the game over with his passing. His 17 completions for 209 yards and three touchdowns brought the Eagles into the game and eventually won with a convincing victory. “We all played real s—-y at one point, and we all came up big at one point,” he said. “That’s the beauty of a good team, of a great team,” Barkley commented after the match, praising the team.
The Eagles are now 3-0, and Saquon Barkley’s blunt and vocal assessment may have reinforced what many in the locker room already knew, but they now understand that even getting back the rhythm, they still have plenty to clean up. They are now focusing on week 4, where they will face another undefeated team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While Saquon Barkley has struggled, Jalen Hurts seems to have found his mojo
Jalen Hurts underwent a sluggish beginning in his Week 3 contest with the Los Angeles Rams to spearhead the Philadelphia Eagles to extend their winning streak of the season. During the halftime, the Eagles’ fans were booing, as they were frustrated because the team was not doing well in the game, particularly Hurts, who had fumbled the ball in the first half. The Rams dominated the Eagles by a lead of 19 points in the early second half.

Nevertheless, Hurts saved his team through a row of outstanding plays. He linked up with wide receiver A.J. Brown to make a key 38-yard pass on second-and-13 on their 29-yard line, then a 33-yard TD to tight end Dallas Goedert to cut the lead. Hurts later finished a big 16-yard pass to wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who prepped a final drive to a touchdown. During this drive, Hurts turned a fourth-and-1 into a quarterback sneak before returning to Brown with a 9-yard touchdown to narrow the gap within five points.

The best moment of Hurts was when he had less than two minutes remaining. He spotted Smith in the end zone on a pass of 4 yards to score a 27-26 lead. The 17-play, 91-yard drive was marked by key completions on the third downs. A 25-yard completion to Brown and a 10-yard completion to Smith! In general, Hurts finished 22 out of 32 passes with 226 yards, having three touchdowns and no interceptions. This was significantly higher than the previous 2 games with no touchdowns. The performance of Hurts re-energized the Eagles’ offense, revitalized the team and fans, and even served as evidence as to why he should be considered one of the drivers of Philadelphia’s success this season.
