Despite reports emerging of the HC’s exit in 2024, he has one clear task ahead of him: the next match against the defending champions Chiefs. He even lauded the team, especially Patrick Mahomes ahead of their week 15 game.

However, the classic Belichick moment occurred once again during the post-practice press conference on Wednesday. When a reporter asked him about his exit rumors mentioning Robert Kraft, the HC shut him up with an epic reply. This really makes one wonder if the Belichick era is indeed coming to a screeching halt.

Bill Belichick full of praise for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs

In his ever-famous grumpy face, the Patriots head coach appeared at the conference. He started it by sharing high praise for his upcoming opponents, the Chiefs. He particularly applauded Patrick Mahomes, probably carrying pain inside with his ever-unsolved quarterback problem since Brady’s departure. “Offensively, of course, all starts at the quarterback. He’s great player, does everything well. Can make all the throws, athletic, got a lot of poise, you know… Clutch player. Can’t say enough what he does for the team.”

Belichick further praised their offensive line. “Checker’s done a good job running the ball for him. Really tough runner, good vision, good contact, balance.” He mentioned TE Travis Kelce and and WR Rashee Rice as well, “obviously Kelce and Rice emerging the passing game inside the offensive line”, insisting Mahomes gets further support from the two.

But Belichick was really selective about what he was speaking to the media. A reporter briefly tried to ask him about his future, but it didn’t go well for him.

As he was speaking about their next game, a reporter asked Belichick “Do you have an understanding that Robert will not ask you to be back next year?” Almost immediately, Belichick replied “Get ready for Kansas City, that’s what I’m doing”, shutting the reporter down for pretty much the rest of the session.

While the rumors surrounding his exit are proving to be increasingly serious, Belichick isn’t shifting his attention from the team as long as he’s there. But will that be any of good use? The Patriots are done for the season, and Belichick knows it. But what no one knows yet is his destination next season. Not unless, anything is confirmed at least.
