Rich Eisen missed the Super Bowl telecast, probably because he was busy assisting the smooth functioning of things on the game day. After the game was over, he was left stunned by what transpired between Travis Kelce and Andy Reid. The broadcaster, who held a different image, provided his honest take on the situation.

In the high-stakes atmosphere of Super Bowl LVIII, Kansas City Chiefs found themselves in a tough spot with a scoreless second quarter. This was when Isiah Pacheco lost the ball. This was when the cameras moved towards Kelce’s confrontation with the 65-year-old coach. But then, the clash against the Niners ended in a 25-22 OT victory.

On a recent episode of The Rich Eisen Show, the host revealed how he had no idea that the tight end had “barked” at Andy Reid and “knocked him over” and found out later that the video went viral on X. The host couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Leading up to that point, Eisen believed that the Chiefs TE loved his head coach too much to act so erratically.

“I was stunned you know, because I just know how much Travis Kelce loves Andy Reid.  Remember how many times we had him on this program and we talked about how when he first started he was a total hothead? Right, and Reid kind of had to what, tame his inner hot head? But the hot head’s still there, hot head’ don’t really go away.”

Though water is under the bridge now, the internet couldn’t back away from bringing into light some other instances where Kelce was a bit “hot-headed”. Fans have even gone to the extent of shifting the blame on  Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift.

All speculations aside, the way Reid handled the matter speaks greatly about the coach, and why Mahomes refers to him as the “best coach ever”.

Andy Reid’s reaction to getting bumped by Travis Kelce

The Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach took the incident with a pinch of humor. He believed that Kelce acted out of competitive spirit, and because it was a high-stakes game. In the post-game presser, Reid said, “He caught me off balance; I wasn’t watching. Cheap shot, but that’s alright.”.

Per Reid, Kelce wanted to be in on the game and score touchdowns. However, he had 9 receptions throughout the game and no touchdown to show for it. The Chiefs barely managed to squeeze a win. In hindsight, some might even think that Kelce’s actions were a bit over the top.

Later on Jori Epstein shared a video of Kelce addressing the situation. The Chiefs TE mentioned, “I got the greatest coach this game has ever seen,” said Kelce. “He’s unbelievable at not only dialing up plays and having everybody prepared, but he’s one of the best leaders of men that I’ve ever seen in my life.” Heated moments are common in a game like NFL, but what Kelce did is certainly a matter of debate.

What’s worth is that the Chiefs’ historic Super Bowl victory is a stamp on Andy Reid’s Hall of Fame resume. Now, the coach is all set to lead the Chiefs in the upcoming season.
