When Charissa Thompson adopted her dog a few years ago, she named her Daisy, a little nod to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Soon after, Daisy quickly became a beloved part of her life. But on Friday, November 21, Thompson shared heartbreaking news: Daisy had passed away after suddenly falling ill, which left Thompson heartbroken and devastated.

“It is with a very very heavy heart I say this, my sweet Daisy has passed away,” she shared the heartbreaking news through her Instagram story. ” I’m heartbroken. Found out she was sick last Friday and just like that, she passed peacefully in my arms on Wednesday.”

Charissa explained that nothing seemed wrong with Daisy at all. She’d been on three hikes just the week before and looked completely healthy. Then, out of nowhere, she suddenly became really lethargic. Charissa took her to the vet, and that’s when the doctors found cancer everywhere. They told her there was nothing they could do.

She also shared that her other dog, Willis, who’s part wolf, had been sick recently as well. Charissa admitted she thought she was going to lose him a few weeks ago. Thankfully, he pulled through. But while she was worried about Willis, Daisy’s illness came out of nowhere and took her sweet girl this week.

“I was able to hold her while she passed at home peacefully & I know she didn’t suffer but I’m devastated,” she further wrote. “Hug your babies a little tighter for me because you just never know…”

As heartbreaking as the moment was, Charissa made sure Daisy’s final moments were spent in comfort and love. And while she’s grateful Daisy didn’t suffer, the loss has clearly left a deep mark on her. Meanwhile, the sportscaster recently also addressed her health concerns.

Charissa Thompson addressed her medical emergency

A few weeks ago, Charissa Thompson’s best friend and colleague, Erin Andrews, casually revealed that Thompson actually pushed through a Thursday Night Football broadcast while throwing up. That one detail instantly blew up online, with people wondering whether she was dealing with a serious medical emergency on air.

On top of that, some outlets even claimed that Thompson collapsed during the Cincinnati Bengals vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers game. With all the noise growing, Thompson finally stepped in and addressed exactly what happened on one of the episodes of her Calm Down podcast.

“Two weeks ago, I got sick before the game,” said she. “I was sick in the morning at a production meeting. Came out of nowhere. We might have pinpointed it to the seafood tower from the night before, but either way, it hit me during the production meeting. I told the story on the podcast by the time the game rolled around, I was lights, camera, action, b*tch smile.”

Charissa clarified that she was dealing with a health issue around that time, but it didn’t happen during the broadcast. She said it wasn’t serious enough to even mention to her bosses. And most importantly, she had no issues at all while she was on air. But the headlines ran wild, and at the end of the day, she had to clear the air on her health concerns.
