It seems like the fans of Justin Fields are done with the delay the Chicago Bears are putting him through. ESPN host and a self-proclaimed fan of the quarterback talked about how it seems certain that the Bears are going to release him. He further said that Fields is well aware of the situation and that him unfollowing the team’s Instagram page was a sign.
Mike Greenberg, or “Greeny,” feels that the Bears should stop stalling Fields and allow him to prepare for his new destination. He called out the firm on his segment on Get Up on ESPN while discussing the latest action of Fields, which got everyone speculating.

Justin Fields unfollowed the Bears to send a message
When fans noticed that Fields had unfollowed the Bears’ official Instagram account, rumors spread like wildfire on the internet. This especially gained traction after talks of being released from the team before the 2024 NFL draft were doing the rounds. However, the quarterback dismissed any speculations of bad blood, saying he did so to “take a little break.” In a conversation on The 33rd Team Podcast, Fields said, “I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL. I’m just not trying to have football on my timeline.”
However, the ESPN host has a different opinion. Greenberg started by stating that he is an “unabashed” fan of Fields and has been following the QB since college. Fields was sending a message when he unfollowed the team’s account, per Greeny. The host feels that he did so to secure the benefit of the doubt. According to Greeny, the QB “made a statement” with the move and can deny it if questioned.

“No one has ever unfollowed the Chicago Bears because they’re tired of the talk on their timeline. Unfollowing someone gives you plausible deniability. You get to make the statement, and then you get to pretend you didn’t actually do anything.” The host then had a clear and bold message for the Chicago Bears, as a Fields’ fan.
Greeny calls out the Chicago Bears
The host expressed his blunt assessment of the situation. Greenberg said Fields knows that his days in the Bears are numbered. Greenberg further said, “He’s beginning the process of moving on. This is something that requires processing, and he is processing it.”

He further had clear advice for the Bears. “Let’s face what’s going on here,” Greenberg said. “Justin is well aware he is out of Chicago. … The best thing the Bears can do for him is to get him out of there as quickly as possible so he can begin the process of proving them wrong wherever he goes next.”
The host concluded by saying that Fields is going to his next team, “be it Pittsburgh or Atlanta Falcons,” and is going to “prove the Bears wrong.” According to him, the QB is determined to impress us with his performance in the next season and will send a message to the Bears for failing to utilize his talent.
