Fortunately, he was able to limp off the field on his own. Then he walked down to the sideline and was carried off in a cart to the locker room. The squad initially listed him as “Questionable”. But then as the third quarter started, he was ruled out for the entire game. Will this put the Lions’ post-season campaign in injury?

LaPorta sets an NFL record

The second-round pick from Iowa last year was having a monster of a season! He found himself in the NFL history books after he set a new league record. He set the record for the most number of receptions by a rookie tight end. In the game as well, he had secured his 10th TD of the season. The previous record had been set by Keith Jackson in 1988. And he had only scored 81 TDs!

With his final game, he has now recorded 86 catches for 889 yards. This year, he was also picked for the Pro Bowl. With this, he is only the second rookie in the franchise’s history to make it to the Pro Bowl. The other was Charlie Sanders in 1968. And that’s not all. Along with Jahmyr Gibbs, the two became the first pair of rookies to score 10 TDs or more in a season.
