Mornings in Green Bay used to smell like victory…but now it’s just frost and frustration. After losing two consecutive games, the Packers slipped from the first to the third spot in the NFC North. Both times, the offense was unable to make an impact. The star quarterback Jordan Love gave his season’s worst performance with a 55.6% completion rate and a QBR of 38.8 against Philly. But the 27-year-old has his head coach to take the heat. He even confirms Matt LaFleur’s playcalling moment that cost them the game.

“Jordan Love confirmed that the fourth-and-1 inside zone run from shotgun was Matt LaFleur’s play call,” Zack Jacobson, senior writer for 247 Sports, wrote on his X. The play came late in the 4th quarter with the clock ticking and Green Bay in a hurry-up mode. It was LaFleur who called the inside zone run play with running back Josh Jacobs out of the shotgun on fourth and 1 from the Packers’ own 44-yard line. But the Eagles‘ defense quickly recognized the play.

“It was a call that we called a couple of times, going fast, throughout the game. They probably heard the call or were guessing,” Love said. “There was a d-lineman saying some stuff, but I still thought we had a light box and we could try and run it there.” Defensive end Moro Ojomoa was audible on the broadcast, shouting, “Inside zone this way, inside zone this way!” And the result?

Josh Jacobs got stuffed behind the line with a forced fumble recovered by Philly, and the score stayed at 10-7. This killed the Packers’ drive and their final shot at a comeback. But it appears that a 10-7 scoreboard throws shade at some unturned aspects.

The Packers’ Week 10 loss showcased their troubling offensive struggle

The Packers’ defense is one of the strongest defensive forces in the league and is among the top 5 defenses. It has allowed just 287.2 yards per game. But what it did against the reigning Super Bowl champions was beyond exceptional.

They held the Eagles to just 10 points and completely shut down Saquon Barkley, limiting him to only 60 yards on 22 carries. Jalen Hurts also couldn’t find his rhythm either, managing just 183 yards and a 57.7% completion rate…his worst in the season so far. The defense forced multiple turnovers, and they kept giving the offense chances to take control. But even with the defense keeping Philly in check all game long, the offense had a sloppy outing.

The Packers’ offense just couldn’t get anything going, managing only 7 points and 261 total yards. Jordan Love just averaged 4.9 yards per throw, finishing with 176 yards through the air. The ground game didn’t offer much help either. Josh Jacobs carried the ball 21 times for only 74 yards, averaging 3.5 yards. His lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter with just 5:49 remaining…far too late to spark a comeback.

This has resulted in the Packers falling out of the top 10 offenses in the league. Green Bay sits at the 12th spot in the list, scoring just 349.3 yards per game. Packer’s next game will be against the New York Giants on Sunday. This could be an opportunity to reignite the lost spark against a struggling team that has been reflected in the past two games.
