Patrick Mahomes and Co have proven their prowess on the field with a 25-22 win. Astonishingly, though, while it has allowed the Chiefdom to celebrate their fourth SB title, the victory has also revealed a downside of fame etched to it. The same was acknowledged by the Chiefs’ QB who embraced the notion that KC has shifted from one of the most “loved” teams to a squad disliked by many. The change, however, did not seem to be getting on the nerves of the QB much.

The pure dominance of the Chiefs in the playoffs and the SB title might have paved the way for this change. After all, the “underdogs” proved the haters wrong about their on-road games, and made sure to come on top to grab yet another title under the Reid-Mahomes era. This wouldn’t have been possible without a determined attitude to conquer the NFL realm, as reflected by Mahones who shed light on their 2023-2024 season.

It’s Patrick Mahomes vs the world!

Patrick Mahomes appeared in an interview after the game. While he was surrounded by many questions, one reporter asked him about his experience of the Chiefs’ conversion from being one of the most revered teams to now looking like “villains,” especially after his third SB title. Safe to say that the Chiefs QB reflected an “us against the world mentality” and it worked out pretty well for him.

He expressed how the noise is loud but the efforts must be louder. The reporter further enquired how Mahomes doesn’t take the hate against the Chiefs’ “personal.” To this, the 28-year-old honestly opened up about his season this year and commented on its difference in terms of fan support. He said, “Yeah it was different this year. Just the having people booing you every single stay, I mean they always boo.”

Acknowledging the hostility surrounding the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes added, “It was different this year how they booed and I am going on the road in the playoffs and seeing those hostile environments and all you can do is just come together as a team and those situations you make it about yourself you make it about the team and just know that it’s y’all versus everybody there.”

Chiefs have been known for their comeback in the second half of the game. First, it was against the Philadelphia Eagles last year and now, it was against the San Francisco 49ers, where Mahomes and team did not give in to the pressure and turned the tables in the third and fourth quarter. However, while fans have also been supportive of this resilient side of the Red Army, it seems that the win against the Niners shifted the tide due to many reasons.

Why do people dislike the Chiefs?

Hate might properly be a strong word to use here. According to the Washington Post, one of the main reasons for “dislike” might be because of the winning streak that the Chiefs have been on. Mahomes has won just too many games and that might not sit well with many people. Affirming the same, Patrick Mahomes said,“If you win a lot and that causes you to be a villain, then I’m okay with it.”

Secondly, the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift romance has caused a big stir in the NFL realm. While many have been supportive of this relationship and NFL has gained new viewers, it has also sparked criticism from other football enthusiasts. According to these NFL lovers, the attention on the blooming relationship has taken the recognition away from actual game.

Another nail in the coffin has been Travis Kelce throwing fits over Andy Reid. Many NFL fans saw it as an unwarranted situation without knowing what it really was. To the naked eye, it appeared like Kelce was having an argument with Andy Reid. Also, Mahomes climbing the “HOF” ladder quickly might also have added to the list of reasons for the projected hate.
