This game is just as much a business as it is football. It’s kinda like out of my control.” What didn’t sit well with George Pickens is clear from what he said above. The WR informed that he wasn’t involved in the decision-making process of that trade, and got to know about it when everyone found out the news. Indeed, Pickens’ exit from the Pittsburgh Steelers and sending him to the Dallas Cowboys has raised many eyebrows. And the interesting part here is: Just when it felt like he and DK Metcalf were about to light it up together, Pittsburgh pulled the plug. What’s wild is, it wasn’t just a front office call; Mike Tomlin reportedly pushed for it. Why? Perhaps for Jordan Love’s weapon….Wait…what?

We are all aware that George Pickens’ deal brought back a 2026 third-round pick, but it left a huge gap on the depth chart. He was a playmaker in the passing game for the team since being drafted in 2022 as a second-round pick. So now, as Pickens’ chapter in the Steel City is closed, multiple wild theories are coming up, just like the recent one about Jordan Love’s Packers.

According to journalist Andrew Fillipponi on X, the theory is: “Omar Khan didn’t want to make the George Pickens trade. Tomlin made him do it. And Tomlin did it. Because Aaron Rodgers wanted it. And this will all become clear when the Steelers acquire Allen Lazard or Romeo Doubs. Remember this.”

Lazard is entering the final year of his contract and is due to carry a $4.6 million cap hit. When his trade rumors to the Steelers and a possible reunion with Aaron Rodgers appeared, Lazard didn’t take much time to respond to it. He took to his social media, sharing a GIF from the movie The Wolf of Wall Street, hinting that he has no plans to leave New York. Last year, the 29-year-old wide receiver caught 37 passes on 60 targets, racking up 560 yards and six touchdowns. So, perhaps he might not be the one who will land in the Steel City. But what about Jordan Love’s key player, Doubs?

With Aaron Rodgers possibly landing in Pittsburgh, all eyes turned to who might tag along, and Romeo Doubs quickly became the name on everyone’s lips. He’s been a steady target in Green Bay, especially with Christian Watson constantly battling injuries. But here’s where things get interesting: Jordan Love’s Packers just drafted two fresh receivers, which sparked serious trade buzz around Doubs. Now, while he’s been clutch since 2022, two concussions last season had Coach Matt LaFleur openly worried.

After the playoff loss to Philly, the HC didn’t hide his concern, even if he hadn’t yet talked to the medical team. Still, after the draft, LaFleur told ESPN’s Peter Schrager he’s happy with the group and loves what Doubs brings to the locker room. So, despite all the online chatter, it sounds like Jordan Love’s Green Bay, too, isn’t looking to ship anyone out just to keep Rodgers happy.

But let’s not forget that Romeo Doubs showed flashes as a rookie with Rodgers back in 2022. He caught 42 balls, racked up 425 yards, and found the end zone three times. Since then, with Jordan Love taking over, Doubs has quietly kept producing – over 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons. Now, with Rodgers rumored to be heading to Pittsburgh, talk is heating up about Doubs possibly joining him. It makes sense because they already have chemistry, and the Steelers just traded George Pickens, leaving a hole at WR2. But as we mentioned above, Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love don’t seem ready to let him walk. So, while the buzz is real, a reunion in Pittsburgh still feels unlikely for now. Meanwhile, until then, the Steelers might also be looking to fill in the RB position.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Mike Tomlin's decision to trade Pickens a masterstroke or a blunder for the Steelers?

Have an interesting take?

No, this time it’s not from Jordan Love’s team

The Steelers require a running back at the moment, and thankfully, this time, they aren’t hunting in Jordan Love’s Green Bay. We all know that Mike Tomlin let Najee Harris walk. They grabbed Kaleb Johnson in the draft, and suddenly their backfield feels fresh, but not quite full. They’ve got Jaylen Warren, who’s solid, Kenneth Gainwell, a new face, and Patterson, who’s probably on his way out. So, who could be the next? As per rumors, Nick Chubb, who is still a free agent, can be the new member of the Steelers.

On Friday, Rich Eisen threw gas on the fire, putting Pittsburgh just behind Dallas as a top spot for Chubb, even asking, “Why not keep him [Nick Chubb] in the AFC North? Why not have the Pittsburgh Steelers go and get Nick Chubb, and just stick it to the Cleveland Browns twice a year?… Nick Chubb being added to the mix, that’s like Steeler football, right?

Chubb went down with that brutal injury right in Pittsburgh. He came back in 2024, gave it what he had – eight games, 332 yards, four scores, but the burst wasn’t the same. He averaged just 3.3 yards per carry, far from the Chubb we knew. Still, Mark Kaboly said to keep an eye out. If the Steelers cut ties with Patterson, adding Chubb would just be as smart as adding Jordan Love’s Romeo Doubs.
