The Pittsburgh Steelers got the shock of this season when their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, suffered a small fracture in his left wrist. While the injury doesn’t affect his playing style much, if he falls on his left hand, things become much worse. It has left them shaking their heads for the Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter posted on X that Rodgers is pushing hard to play. But the Steelers have kept quiet on their decision yet. The team doctors are checking his reports and not revealing anything to the media or reporters. His status would remain a mystery until the kickoff.

Aaron Rodgers walked onto the practice field this week with a black brace wrapped around his fractured left wrist. The Steelers watched closely. Rodgers moved through drills, careful but steady. He threw lightly, tested the wrist, and didn’t complain. Still, the head coach, Mike Tomlin, kept the message simple. Rodgers is questionable.
The injury happened late in the Week 11 win over the Bengals. Rodgers landed awkwardly, felt a jolt, and kept playing until halftime. Now the Steelers wait, knowing Chicago is a tough place to survive, let alone win. Pittsburgh has only done it once in franchise history. Other Steelers are hurting, too.
Defensive tackle Cam Heyward is fighting an ankle issue. Cornerback Darius Slay is working through concussion protocol. Linebacker Alex Highsmith is doubtful with a pectoral injury. So, the defense is already down. The roster feels thin at a key moment.

If Rodgers can’t go, Mason Rudolph will start. Rudolph looked sharp against the Bengals. He completed 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. He’s lived on the edge of the lineup for years and carries all the necessary experience to start for the franchise. About Aaron Rodgers, the medical team will decide. Rodgers must show he can protect himself. Pain doesn’t matter, safety does. Yet the team needs him more than ever, particularly against the Bears.

Aaron Rodgers carries an impressive record against the Bears
Rodgers has dominated the Bears throughout his career. He owns a 24-5 record against them. He’s 11-1 at Soldier Field. But he insists that history won’t push him to rush back. He likes the rivalry, but he’ll only play if he’s safe. Rodgers’ toughness is legendary. He has played through broken bones, heavy hits, and countless sacks.
He’s the most sacked quarterback in league history, yet he keeps getting up. Only two collarbone injuries and a torn Achilles have ever forced him out for long. He’s close to a major milestone, too. Rodgers needs just 79 more yards to reach 65,000 career passing yards. Only four players have ever done that. He might get there this week, or he might have to wait.

The injury also makes matters worse for the 41-year-old, as 2025 might be his last season in the league. He will turn 42 in the next ten days, but as injuries rise, it also affects his playing time. The Black and Gold might not depend on his experience and push for a younger franchise quarterback next year. For now, they are focused on the rivals.

The Steelers sit at 6-4 while the Bears are 7-3. Stakes are rising for both division toppers. The decision is coming. And all eyes are on Rodgers’ left wrist.
