Looks like things have turned around for Travis Kelce and his old friend from Kansas City. Their bond became sour two Autumns ago, around the time the tight end began dating pop superstar Taylor Swift, or in the words of Nick Wright (aka the friend), since Kelce has “become, like, a super-duper celebrity.” But that’s in the past now. The new headline is: Kelce and Patrick Mahomes joined forces as matchmakers, finding Wright the perfect place for his date.

In a recent Instagram post, the First Things First host shared a special night with a woman. But taking a page out of Chandler’s page from ‘Friends’, he “decided to shoot [his] chances with the most beautiful woman.” And looks like the date went well. But guess where it was? 1587 Prime, owned by Kelce and Mahomes. The $30M steakhouse is the first of its kind joint venture between the QB and the tight end. Wright, being bewitched by the beauty of his wife, he straightway asked his old friend for a favour: a table for two. Of course, the three-time Super Bowl champion agreed. So did Wright’s better half, Danielle Wright. 

“Shout out to @patrickmahomes & @killatrav for fitting me in at their new spot @1587prime,” Wright wrote in the caption, thanking the matchmakers of the night. From the pictures, the restaurant looks truly exquisite, and if one wants to take the FOX Reporter’s words, “their pastrami beats Katz’s in NYC.” Replying to the shout-out, Kelce commented on Wright’s post, writing, “Always showing love, appreciate ya Nick! Hope y’all enjoyed the evening!!” The Wrights weren’t the only ones to have a special night at 1587 Prime before its grand opening on September 17. 

The superstar Kelce couldn’t wait to show his ladylove the new restaurant in Kansas City, Mo., which is no less than a Taylor Swift song. So, hand-in-hand, the love birds walked into the restaurant on September 8 for a special date night. They had a white semi-private booth reserved for themselves. The onlookers described the celebrity couple as “a normal couple enjoying a night out,” according to People. But you know who did the match-making with this couple? 

Last Summer in May, the Kansas City Chiefs’ elite quarterback took credit for match-making the biggest celebrity couple in Hollywood and the NFL. “I’d like to take some of the credit. I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert when the friendship bracelet was—he was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker,” he said on The Pat McAfee Show. He even encouraged his best friend after he obviously became captivated by the pop sensation. So of course, Kelce did, and just like that, they are engaged now.

While we’ll have vibed on those special songs dedicated to the ten-time Pro Bowler in Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, Kelce’s new 1587 Prime steakhouse appears a love-letter to his fiancée. The menu includes a “sweet drawing of Swift wearing her fiancé’s University of Cincinnati football jersey,” according to TMZ, via a fan who attended the complimentary VIP pre-opening dinner. And that’s just one of the inspirations drawn from the “Midnight” singer. Throughout the menu, Kelce and Mahomes have included Swift’s Easter eggs. 

One of the drinks on the cocktail menu serves a drink with cucumber and orange peel. And guess its name? The Alchemy—a song written by the 14-time Grammy winner for Kelce. “I’m not a big liquor drinker myself, but from everyone else, I’ve heard it’s a really good drink and obviously [we] wanted to have an ode to Taylor and how important she is, not only to us but this city as well,” said Mahomes about the sweet idea by him and his co-owner. 

The three-time Super Bowl MVP even predicted The Alchemy would be the best-seller. “I think people will be super excited to get it, and it has the theatrics that I think people will love. I’m sure it is something that will be ordered a ton and be a best seller at 1587,” he added during his appearance on ‘The Drive’ radio show. Some of the cocktails are also dedicated to Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, with one named ‘Queen B.’ Besides their life partners, they also have cocktails named after head coach Andy Reid as ‘Big Red,’ and one after Kelce as ‘Big Yeti.’ This steakhouse is an effort by two of the Chiefs’ biggest stars to give back to the community and to have something in Kansas City to call their own.
