Did the Titans make the right call by letting Callahan go, or was he a scapegoat?
Have an interesting take?
Callahan spent his period in Denver to understand how to adjust to various quarterbacks and offenses. Those were the experiences that assisted him in joining the Detroit Lions in 2016 as a coach of quarterbacks, and he was in close contact with Matthew Stafford. He then shared his experience with the Oakland Raiders in 2018.
After the Raiders, Callahan joined forces with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019. He assisted in transforming them into one of the finest in the league, and in his reign, the league-leader player was quarterback Joe Burrow. Despite the Bengals losing the Super Bowl in 2022 against the Rams by a narrow margin of 23-20, Callahan received appreciation for his contribution to the QB training.
The victory with Burrow, as well as previous experience with Manning and Stafford, made him one of the best offensive coaches. His tenure with the Bengals made him a good candidate for the head coaching jobs due to his playoff appearances.
Callahan was employed as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans in January 2024, with an offensive approach to a rebuilding team. His inaugural season was terminated 3-14, and he was fired in mid-2025 season after a poor 1-5 start.
