But, it doesn’t deviate from his commitment to his family. His wife, Sharri Maio, is the forerunner of the family. Married to a 9/11 widow, Adam’s life took a new turn with Sharri’s presence, as they had built a beautiful life together.

“Without Sharri, nothing gets done,” Schefter remarked. And, indeed, since meeting her in 2006 to this day, the couple has set high couple goals for love and understanding. With this, they have set an example for others to follow.

Who is Sharri Maio?

Schefter’s wife was born Sharri Brooke Setty on May 29, 1969, in Syosset, New York. Sharri is the daughter of Joann Forman Setty and Charles “Chuck” Setty. Before initiating her life with Schefter, she was married to Joe Maio. He served as a director at Cantor Fitzgerald. The couple had a son, Devon, born in June 2000. However, things took a tragic turn during the 9/11 attacks leading to Joe Maio’s death.

Times were tough were Sharri, who was a young widow with a year-old child to raise. In fact, even Adam Schefter has given Joe a heartfelt tribute in his memoir, ‘The Man I Never Met.’ Acknowledging Sharri’s resilience, he penned, “It’s a hard thing to fully grasp unless you walk in these shoes.”

Adam Schefter and Sharri’s paths crossed in July 2006, and, since then, the couple has remained inseparable.

Adam Schefter and Sharri’s love story

Meeting on a blind date on Long Island, Adam instantly knew this was it. In an article shared by FabWags in 2024, Adam recalled, “The moment I saw her, I fell for her.” He continued, “I saw her and was completely smitten. Her mom used to comment that when we were dating, how much she saw that I loved Sharri.” And, in the next 11 months, they got hitched.

Adam Schefter became a father figure to Sharri’s son. The couple also later welcomed their daughter, Dylan, in 2008. Talking of his role in fathering Devon, Adam stated, “It has been one of the great honors of my life.” He continued, “It’s hard because you love him as your own, but Joe is still his biological father.”

Adam regards Sharri as the foundation of their family. He also acknowledges the emotional weight Sharri carries, remarking, “My hope was to make her as happy as possible and try to help replace what she lost.” Sharri developed anxiety around traveling and was also diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

But, with Adam’s support, she learned to overcome her anxiety, becoming the “forerunner” of the household. And Adam Schefter and the children admit she’s the family’s superstar.
