Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre sued not only Shannon Sharpe but Pat McAfee and Shad White as well. He filed the lawsuit in regards to the three of them making “egregiously false and defamatory statements” about him on the FS1 Talk Show Undisputed. And both Shannon Sharpe and Pat McAfee settled the situation in different ways.

Retired NFL tight end and Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe just won the $77 million defamation lawsuit against Brett Favre on Monday. The case is over with the dismissal of Favre’s lawsuit by a federal judge unless he makes an appeal to the ruling. But former NFL punter Pat McAfee was able to steer clear from the lawsuit with a clarification.

Pat McAfee made a clarification, not an apology

The Mississippi Welfare scandal has become the center of attention as Brett Favre unleashed his discontent over the words directed at him for stealing poor people’s money. While Shannon Sharpe held his ground and remained adamant without an apology, Pat McAfee swam out of trouble by delivering a statement, which is mistaken as an apology.

Following the lawsuit, Pat McAfee settled the case without involving the court. Brett Favre announced in May that he was no longer suing him for defamation. He posted, “I’m happy that Pat McAfee and I have settled this litigation. Like Pat said, he was attempting to be funny and not commenting based on any personal knowledge.”

However, it wasn’t the same for Shannon Sharpe. In a Monday night podcast, the 56-year-old commentator said via AJ Perez of FrontOfficeSports, “Pat McAfee issued an apology. Me, I wasn’t going to issue an apology because if I had issued an apology, I would have felt I had done something wrong.”

But what Sharpe mispronounced was that Pat McAfee didn’t issue an apology. It was a clarification. He later stated on The Pat McAfee Show, “I am pleased to report that based solely on me again clarifying these points now, with no settlement paid, Brett is withdrawing his suit against me.

Brett Favre exploited TANF funds for selfish development

In September 2022, Shannon Sharpe commented about Mississippi Welfare and Brett Favre, saying that if Mississippi is the poorest state, Brett Favre is stealing from the underserved. The allegation soon turned out to be true after scrutiny. As of the 2020 state audit, findings report that the funds of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) amounting to $77 million were not spent for what it’s supposed to. While Brett Favre didn’t face any criminal charges, eight people have been indicted.

Brett Favre reportedly stole the poor people’s money to build a volleyball court for the University of Southern Mississippi. After winning the lawsuit, Shannon Sharpe wishes the best for the citizens of Mississippi and hopes that justice will be done to them on “their day in court and everything gets worked out about what transpired down there.

We don’t know what the future holds for the retired Packers player, but hopefully, he learned his lesson. Fans are thankful for Shannon Sharpe and Pat McAfee as they squirmed out of Brett Favre’s clutches in their own styles.
