His recent collaboration with the top sports apparel brand worth $155.26 Billion looks like a promising venture.

Colin Kaepernick may not be an NFL prospect anymore. But his dedication to the community and activism has bagged him several lucrative off-grid collaborations. The 35-year-old posted via an Instagram reel about his latest collaboration with the multi-billion dollar company.

Colin Kaepernick in collaboration with Nike and Joy Yamusangie

Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick announced his collaboration with UK artist Joy Yamusangie and Nike in celebrating his work and life through artwork. He posted, “Together we are capable of anything!” The goal of the alliance is “to express their vision of liberation, community, hope, and perseverance through their amazing artwork.”

Nike has joined forces with Joy Yamusangie to retell the story of Colin Kaepernick in art. “When I met Colin, it was clear that the community was extremely important to him,” they said. They also admitted that it was easy to draw inspiration for the collection designs. “We blended our different approaches and our visions… Each drawing represents hope, ambition, and aspiration.”

As for Nike, it has a strong bond with the former NFL QB. Nike posted of Kaepernick, “Colin Kaepernick is a man of the people… This product capsule serves as a reminder and an invitation to push toward an equitable future.” Through painting and art, Joy Yamusangie brings the “core themes of Colin’s work and life” to life through a hoodie and T-shirt. The Colin Kaepernick-inspired hoodie and T-shirt will be available on October 27 on the Nike website.

The Nike pitchman is back in action 

This isn’t the first time Colin Kaepernick has collaborated with the major $155.26 billion company. He signed with Nike for the first time in 2011. In 2018, he was reintroduced as a brand pitchman when he appeared as the face of Nike’s Just Do It campaign. He also teamed up with Nike in 2019 for the Air Force 1 collaboration, and the shoes sold out in a day.

Another Nike collaboration was the 2019 Emmy award-winning advert, Dream Crazy. The campaign featured Colin Kaepernick’s quote, “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything. Just do it.” As a star inspiration for the major brand, Nike stated, “Colin surrounds himself with elements of youthfulness, revolution, hope, community, and ambition.”

Colin Kaepernick may be labeled controversial for his ‘take a knee’ protest in 2016. And as his NFL career may be coming to a permanent close, he’s channeling his energy toward things that make a difference. This won’t be the last time we’ll hear of Kaepernick and his dynamic work and life story.
