Oof, talk about a rough exit! The City of Brotherly Love’s reeling after the Phillies’ latest playoff heartbreak—and Jason Kelce’s serving up some raw honesty. He poured his heart (and mind) out on the 94WIP Morning Show, giving fans a front-row seat to his thoughts on the team’s brutal NLDS loss.

When asked which Phillies’ playoff loss hurt the most—2022, 2023, or 2024—Kelce laid it down straight: “I think it’s this year because this is the team that underachieved…” Ouch! That hit harder than a fastball to the gut (after a phenomenal 95-win season), and the Super Bowl LII champ was left feeling “hurt.”

Let’s set the scene: the Mets clinched their first playoff series at Citi Field in 24 years—thanks to Edwin Díaz striking out Kyle Schwarber with two runners aboard, sealing a “painful” 3-1 victory. Meanwhile, the Phillies (after last year’s World Series run) found themselves crashing back to the damned reality. The former football center captured the vibe perfectly, contrasting this year’s squad with last season’s surprising fire: “2022… felt like a really good group that really competed.”

But this season? Different story. With owner John Middleton throwing money around like confetti, the pressure was on. “This one felt like, they really hit a dud there,” Kelce reiterated, and who can argue with that? The Phillies couldn’t convert opportunities when it mattered most, looking like a deer caught in headlights instead of the champs they were meant to be.

The Mets popped champagne and celebrated like there’s no tomorrow. The Phillies, though? Well, they had all the pieces to make a deep run, yet it ended in disappointment.

As for the Kelce bros, they might want to lend some of that Philly toughness to the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets, who are facing their own mess this season—HC Robert Saleh’s firing.

Travis and Jason Kelce proposed a bold move for the Jets

Jason and Travis Kelce shook stuff up for the Jets. After the team fired Robert Saleh on Tuesday, the Kelce brothers threw in a plan: making Rodgers the first-ever player-coach in NFL history.

During their New Heights Podcast, the duo opened up about New York’s coaching shakeup, and made it clear they wanted to see something really bold. “The head coach is Aaron Rodgers. I don’t even know why they’re even just naming them the head coach,” Jason said, adding. “I just want to see a player-coach.” The Chiefs’ star TE echoed the sentiment, “I do too, man, I kind of want to see it.”

Okay, just imagine A-Rod, calling the shots both on-field and on the sidelines. The ex-Eagles star added, “What if he just f——g leads into the promised land?” But alas, the Jets went a more traditional route, naming Jeff Ulbrich as their interim coach ahead of their upcoming clash with the Buffs in Week 6.

While the Jets steer through their next steps, one thing’s clear: Aaron Rodgers’ leadership and experience could be the key to turning the season around.
