It takes the best to inspire the best! Coach Saban belongs to the former part, thanks to his 34 years of head coaching experience. Other top coaches know a thing or two around the tacky situations. Nick Saban’s knowledge was enough to savvily manipulate the tacky situation to turn out to his benefit. That ladies and gentlemen, is Saban’s unparalleled insight, one that can even humble Deion Sanders, the formidable former ‘triple threat’ of the NFL.
Well, it’s Deion Sanders, he’s formidable even now, only if he tackles the situation that the Buffs were caught up in last season, resulting in their record being 4-8. Poor playcalling and other blunders were to blame. For problems like these, and the more complex ones, Sanders’ go-to sanctuary was Nick Saban. His coaching guru, his mentor, his hero. Sanders recalled a situation that he shared with Saban, where Saban predicted it and it turned out to be right.
“I went to Coach Saban with a problem before the season started. He said, ‘You know what I did, and then he gave me a true illustration of what he did in a similar situation. I’m like Coach, I can’t do that. The coach said I’d do that. That’s what it’s going to come to. And I was there. It came to that. I had to end up doing it and he told me I need to do anything in it,” Sanders narrated during his appearance in Don Yager’s podcast.

It did not end there for Sanders, though. He went on to iterate the respect he feels for Saban. “I respect the heck out of him. The conversations, the wisdom,” Sanders poured his heart out. However, Prime and Saban’s tête-à-tête was not limited to mentoring sessions. It was ‘lights, camera and action.’ that followed their wise talks.
