Head coach Deion Sanders has been busy reshaping the Colorado Buffaloes offense. With key positions solidified, one crucial area still needed attention — the tight end. They need a tight end with a blend of blocking and receiving skills to act as an offensive threat. The Buffs recently felt the impact of this need with the departure of standout tight end Michael Harrison to the transfer portal. This created a void Coach Prime and his staff aimed to fill before spring practice began.

While Deion’s son, star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, bolsters the offense, he’ll need a strong supporting cast around him. Thus, the team is bringing in a native player who’s transferring from Ohio State, adding to their offensive strength. After three seasons with the Buckeyes, this four-star prospect from Aurora is returning home to play under Deion’s leadership.

A new key addition supports the Colorado Buffaloes’ offense — homegrown talent Sam Hart. The Aurora native, a former Ohio State Buckeyes tight end, announced his commitment to play under Coach Deion Sanders, as Buffs reporter Scott Procter confirmed. “Ohio State transfer tight end Sam Hart has committed to Colorado with two years of eligibility remaining. The Aurora, CO native played in five games across three seasons with the Buckeyes. #CUBuffs,” Procter tweeted.

Hart is a graduate transfer and has two remaining years to play. While he hasn’t met Deion’s staff yet, he’s familiar with the Colorado campus and is expected to visit Boulder before joining the team in June. Hart’s arrival will likely add depth alongside quarterback Shedeur Sanders, providing a much-needed boost to the Buffaloes’ offense. This talent will definitely be watched in the upcoming season.

Sam Hart likely to make a big impact in Boulder

Colorado fans can rejoice as Deion Sanders lands a much-needed weapon for the Buffs’ offense in tight end Sam Hart. Standing at a massive 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, Hart has the ideal build. His size makes him a natural blocker, creating crucial space for the running game and providing vital protection for QB Shedeur. While Hart’s experience might raise some eyebrows – playing just five games in his redshirt freshman year with the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2022 and seeing no action in 2023 – his raw talent is undeniable.

Hart was a highly regarded high school player, earning second-team all-state honors and ranking as his class’s third-best recruit from Colorado. Coach Prime might revamp the offensive line featuring other powerful transfers with him. The team has already retained star wide receiver Travis Hunter while adding another weapon in Hart to complement their other WR, Jimmy Horn Jr. Thus, Hart joins a talented unit and has all the potential to contribute significantly to his new home at Boulder.
