After the Michigan Wolverines won the National Championship, CB Amorion Walker surprised fans with his decision to transfer and join Lane Kiffin in Ole Miss. But before the season even commenced, he couldn’t get enough of the Wolverines after realizing the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Amorion Walker previously played as a one-time WR in Michigan before being positioned as a defensive back. As a defense player, he played five games last season, securing three tackles and a pass breakup last season. As an offense player the season before that, the 3-star 2022 prospect played six games with one reception for four yards. But it looks like his first team had his heart all along.

Amorion Walker rejoins Sherrone Moore in Michigan

Amorion Walker previously played as a cornerback in Michigan before transferring to Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels. But after just one semester and a spring ball in Oxford, he made a U-turn to join Sherrone Moore and this time, as a wide receiver, as reported by James Yoder. He confirmed this decision with an X post of his picture in the Wolverines uniform featuring the caption, “Back like I never left.”

Walker transferred to Ole Miss in January despite his team winning the National Championship but now, he’s back and he’s possibly here to stay. He is highly expected to join WR coach Ron Bellamy after the Wolverines got another WR, C.J. Charleston from Youngstown State. The 6’3, 180-pounder is a speedy player in the Big Ten and his familiarity with the Wolverines adds value to Michigan’s depth chart.

Players going in and out of Ann Arbor

After losing a huge number of players in the portal and the 2024 NFL draft, the Wolverines already needed to add more depth to their WR room. And two WRs Cristian Dixon and Karmello English entering the portal only added more to the urgency. But they’ve found their replacements in WRs Amorion Walker and C.J. Charleston.

In terms of other players leaving and entering the portal, Michigan lost three linebackers – Semaj Bridgeman, Hayden Moore, Jeremiah Beasley, CB D.J. Waller, and IOL Amir Herring. As for players joining the program, the Wolverines welcomed Kent State DT C.J. West and kicker Dominic Zvada, who finished 85 percent of his kicks at Arkansas State. For now, the Wolverines look prepped under Sherrone Moore who’s officially kicked off his new role as the HC.
