Deion Sanders stayed true to his words. Following the post-UCLA loss, coach Prime mentioned his intentions to modify his offensive linemen. Well, no one expected the decision to be implemented at full tilt. Sanders has been the ‘prime’ focus of college football in recent days, mostly due to his team, the Buffs, not performing as per the expectations.

The decision was an impacting one, the least to say. In his podcast, Robert Whitlock, who is often the one to call out Sanders on his actions, discussed the same with his guest. The podcaster mentioned a tweet of Brett McMurphy, where he mentioned that

Deion Sanders has demoted his offensive coordinator Sean Lewis.

Deion Sanders makes chances in offenses

This change started right from the leading authority, that is the offensive coordinator. Now, in Lewis’s place, quality control analyst Pat Shermer will take over play-calling duties during their clash against the Oregon State as per multiple sources. However, as per many, the move was already anticipated as ‘Coach Prime’ did not shy away from expressing his exasperation with Sean Lewis this season.

“If Coach Prime is the goat, then Sean Lewis is the scapegoat,” opined Whitlock’s guest.

As per the guest, there are a ton of major issues that need to be fixed in Colorado. The team not averaging even 30 yards or 30 points per game, for instance. Moreover, Sanders often faces difficulty with getting all of his 11 players on the ground. Alongside all the chaos, one cannot simply overlook the leaky defense, as per him.

“Didn’t you fire or demote the wrong coordinator?” was what the guest on Whitlock’s friendly fire had to say.

Why is Deion Sanders targeting only the offense?

‘Coach Prime’s’ new offensive coach Shermer has been the former offensive coordinator with four teams. The most recent one being the Broncos. Moreover, he was also the head coach of the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns. Whereas Lewis has been nothing less than a treasure for the Buffs, with him averaging 32.1 points per game and offense being one of their greatest strengths.

“The quarterback is the coach’s son. That dynamic changes everything.” Well, with just 4 games remaining this season, changing the offensive coach in the middle of it would be a tough adjustment from the players’ end. Will coach Sanders be able to redeem himself with this move? Only time will tell.
