“Historic Day”: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Echoes Coach Prime’s Inspirational Message as Former CU Buffs Players Set for UFL Debut

Until now, we all know how XFL and USFL have merged to form UFL, which Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson co-owns. However, at the beginning of the opening at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the Hollywood superstar did have something in store for the fans. Describing the event as a “historic day,” Johnson gave a shout-out to his long-term friend, Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes HC.
This year has been special for the Buffs since four players with Colorado roots joined the USL. And what better way to address the excited crowd than with a patent Couch Prime touch of “passion?”

For Johnson, the day holds historic value for a reason. Sharing his video addressing the crowd of Arlington on X, The Rock mentions Deion Sanders’ take on the UFL prior to the contest between Birmingham Stallions and Arlington Renegades. The caption reads, “Beautiful energy and mana — and as Coach Prime @DeionSanders said today, the best part is giving these players opportunities to live their dreams and keep hope alive.”

In the video, Johnson is seen with his characteristic charm as he hypes up the spectators, expressing his gratitude and sharing the secret of UFL’s success. He continues, “I wanted to take a moment to say thank you so much. This does not happen without one thing, which is passion. The UFL will be built on passion.” Deion Sanders, too, talks about UFL being the ultimate platform to nourish the dreams of young athletes.

Deion Sanders acknowledges the visionaries behind the UFL

Deion Sanders never misses a chance to voice his support for his team. The Buffs HC shared a close bond with Johnson and was invited to the UFL’s opening ceremony. With his patent charismatic style, Coach Prime could not help but praise Johnson’s initiative.
As Fox Sports got the opportunity to conduct a one-to-one interview right before the game, he glorified the intention behind UFL, “I am loving it first of all. The Rock Dwayne Johnson is doing a wonderful job and just giving people the opportunity to keep their dreams alive, especially these young men. When I moved out the field was electric and I absolutely loved it. It’s wonderful.” He was vocal about how this opportunity would benefit young players like college athletes.

Dwayne Johnson purchased the XFL from former WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon in 2020. Now that the XFL and USFL have merged to form the UFL, Deion Sanders’ watchful eyes hope it will propel the Buffaloes players and other young talents to the pinnacle of success.
