The Buffalo Bills are off to a flying start this season. At 6-2 for the season so far, the Buffalo find themselves at the top of the AFC East. All their units have come together and put in a shift for Coach McDermott. However, star quarterback Josh Allen has been a standout name on their roster this season.

Even though Allen took the recent loss against the Jets upon him, he has had a big year thus far. Apart from the poor showing last weekend, he has put up numbers for the Bills’ offense. With a hit he took against the Jets, the Bills quarterback is a big question mark for their game against the Vikings.

Josh Allen has a scar

During his last drive against the Jets, Allen picked up a meaty hit from the Jets’ defense and was seen holding his right elbow. He continued playing post the hit but wasn’t hot. With no clarity on his throwing since Sunday, the latest update from Wednesday was his absence from Bills’ training.

Allen was evaluated for a potential injury to his right ulnar collateral ligament, a crucial part of the elbow. A tear to this ligament could result in season-ending surgery. In better news, he has a UCL sprain as of now as coach McDermott gave an update on his quarterback.

Choosing to stay diplomatic in his participation in the Sunday game, McDermott said, “Josh is day to day”. Allen had suffered a similar injury in his rookie season that kept him from playing four games. Allen hasn’t missed a game due to injury ever since.

Tough call for Coach McDermott

The sprain doesn’t mean a long-term sidelining for the quarterback. However, if left lingering and not dealt with correctly, it could be crucial for his availability for the year. For the tough guy, Allen is, he would definitely want to participate in the fixture even if he has to play through pain, but it will be on coach McDermott if he wants to risk playing his star man.

If Allen were to miss the game, second-string Case Keenum will be Coach McDermott’s go-to. Keenum is in his first year with the Bills after being traded from the Browns. He was the Browns’ backup quarterback as well. Keenum will have a point to prove if given the opportunity. Fortunately for Bills’ fans, Keenum has a 100% winning record for whenever he has played.
