In the world of sports, the NFL has long been one of the most popular and exciting leagues. And within the NFL, the Super Bowl is undoubtedly the most important game of the year. It’s the culmination of a season’s worth of hard work and determination. But the league is no stranger to controversies. Be it ‘Spygate’ or ‘Deflategate’, many controversies have gone through the league over the years.

The latest on the list, however, is more of a prediction that came true than a controversy. It involves referee Carl Cheffers. A mic’d-up video released by NFL Films from Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles has caught Cheffers predicting the outcome of the game, which came true.

The video, which was recorded during the game, shows Cheffers interacting with players and coaches on the sidelines. During a break in the action, Cheffers can be heard talking to a game official. “Last possession wins, dude”, Cheffers is heard saying. The official responds by saying, “Yeah, you got a shootout on your hands.”

As it turned out, Cheffers was right. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading blows and neither team able to pull away. But in the end, Cheffers’ prediction came true as the Chiefs ran the clock down to just a few seconds and won the game on Harrison Butker’s field goal.
