As curtains are drawn to the 2022 season, there are many players with their futures up in the air. And surprisingly enough, the name Aaron Rodgers is at the top of the list. The face of the Green Bay Packers franchise is contemplating his future in the NFL. But the single QB has described his first love in three words.

Rodgers has played for the Packers ever since he came into the league 18 years ago. And before anyone else in his life, Green Bay is the QB’s first love.

Staying put somewhere for close to two decades sure makes a person attached to a place. And when one is the face of the place for the outside world, the attachment goes to a whole different level. That is exactly what has happened with Aaron Rodgers. During his weekly appearance on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’, Rodgers summed up his love for Green Bay in three words.

“Eighteen years, man,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee. “That’s always gonna be home,” the Packers QB added.

A-Rod may end up leaving Green Bay for another franchise to finish his career. But his one single statement has laid bare his sentiments for the city of Green Bay in Wisconsin. That’s the city that gave him everything. That’s the city he gave his everything for. 

Most fans assumed that Rodgers would end his career with the Packers. He still might, although that looks more and more unlikely. What does the future hold for Rodgers?

Aaron Rodgers signed a three-year deal with the Packers before the start of the 2022 season. So if he wants, the QB still has two years to play for the franchise. The $150 million contract gave him a bump in the salary after back-to-back MVP seasons. But will Rodgers return to the Lambeau Field for the 2023 season?

All three possibilities are open at the moment. He might choose to return for his 19th season in Green and Yellow. Or he might ask for a trade to another franchise, handing the Packers a big draft boost to kickstart a rebuild. Or he just might retire and draw curtains to an illustrious career.

The Packers wouldn’t want to trade their biggest asset in the same conference. So if he does go, an AFC team is the most likely destination. What is the most likely destination if Rodgers does decide to switch teams after almost two decades?
