Eli Manning Offers Career Advice to Aaron Rodgers: ‘It Was Important for Me to Finish My Career With the Giants, and I Would Think It Would Be Important for Him as Well’

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers playoff run ended after they were stomped by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL Divisional Playoff round. Rodgers’ future in the league remains uncertain, and it is unclear whether he will stay with the Packers or request a trade. Former Giants quarterback Eli Manning shared his thoughts on the matter in an interview with ESPN.

In the interview with ESPN, Eli Manning suggested Rodgers should stay with the Packers and retire with the same team. He said, “It was important for me to finish my career with the Giants, and I would think it would be important for him as well, just because of the legacy that he has, the history of Green Bay, being there as long as he has been, winning a championship and winning MVPs.”

“It’s not always greener on the other side. That’s what I had learned from talking to other people. You can go somewhere, and it’s not necessarily going to be better; it’s probably going to be worse,” Manning added.

The uncertain future of Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers in the 2005 NFL draft, and since then he has played for the same franchise. Aaron’s 2021 NFL playoffs run ended early in the Divisional Round against the 49ers. Rodgers racked up 4115 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions in the 2021 season. It was another disappointing end to Aaron’s amazing season. Aaron admitted to the reporters, “A little numb, for sure. I didn’t think it was gonna end like this.” He didn’t want to speculate on his future.

During the post-match press conference, Rodgers expressed his love for the city, the Packers organization and the people involved with it. He said, “But man, just so much gratitude for this city and this organization and such a long, long career here that I’m proud of and really thankful for all the men and women that work here, the men I’ve gotten to cross paths with, coaches and players over the years.”

“I don’t want to be part of a rebuild if I’m going to keep playing, so a lot of decisions in the next couple months,” Rodgers said. Rodgers’ future is uncertain heading into the offseason as he can either stick with the Packers, request a trade or retire.
