The Carolina Panther’s playoff hopes for the season may have died on Sunday night. The Panthers have now lost three of their last four games. And QB Baker Mayfield isn’t doing enough according to some. Former Panther Steve Smith Sr. has a bigger problem with the quarterback than most fans do.

Franchise legend Steve Smith is having a tough time watching his Carolina Panthers play. Smith criticised the Panthers’ offense for scoring only 3 points on the night, courtesy of an Eddy Pineiro field goal. However, the biggest disappointment for the Cardiac Cats, according to Steve, was their QB, Baker Mayfield.

Lemme tell you it’s tough to watch,” Smith Sr. said about Baker Mayfield.

Steve Smith thinks Baker Mayfield doesn’t deserve to play in the NFL

Sunday’s Panthers football showed no signs of an offense that wants to be in playoff contention. Baker Mayfield couldn’t cross the 200 passing yards mark even with 33 attempted passes. The Carolina Panthers‘ rush offense made an almost negligible contribution to the game. The running backs rushed for less than 40 yards throughout the game. RB D’Onta Foreman led the chart with only 24 rush yards on 11 carries.

Steve Smith Sr. was also critical of Baker Mayfield’s inability to take the blame for the team’s loss. “Why is he sayin ‘I’ when he prepares, but in the lack of execution he’s saying ‘we’ didn’t execute,” Smith said. Baker Mayfield failed to throw the ball to a free receiver on multiple occasions and needs to stand up and take some responsibility, according to Smith.
