With much disbelief and disappointment, the NFL icon and Steelers legend, Ben Roethlisberger, reacted to Heinz stadium being renamed. Recently, Heinz stadium changed its name to Acrisure stadium. Moreover, there are two reasons why the Steelers fans will have to get used to a new life.
The first reason is Ben Roethlisberger announcing his retirement in January earlier in 2022. Second is the renaming of the iconic Pittsburgh stadium. As a result, even though the fans are disappointed, the Pittsburgh legend took to Twitter to express his thoughts.

The former QB said, “I can’t believe it, it doesn’t seem right or real! Home will always be Heinz Field! I will never forget the last game and all the amazing fans at FOREVER HEINZ!”

Roethlisberger’s last game at Heinz Field took place in the 17th week of the 2021 season. The 2x Super Bowl winner played it in January against the Cleveland Browns. The Steelers won the game 26-14. In addition, Ben completed 24 of his 46 passes, completing 123 yards in the game.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers‘ QB had one of his best career plays at Heinz Field in the 2011 AFC divisional round game against Baltimore. After he got sacked on first down and an incomplete pass on second, Big Ben fired down the ball to the right sideline to Antonio Brown for a 58-yard completion on third down and 19.

Further, the second most noticeable play was against the Ravens in 2017. This was Ben’s game entirely. After Baltimore got a 31-20 lead, the feared trio of Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and Brown took over. The 40-year-old QB became an iconic figure in the NFL while playing at Heinz Field. Therefore, forgetting it might be the most challenging thing ever for him and his fans. The Acrisure Stadium might produce many great games, but the memory of one of the greatest Steelers’ QB playing at Heinz Field will be etched in everyone’s memory.
