The Patrick Mahomes-Tua Tagovailoa debate rose to an all-time high in the offseason. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill made a claim which is whirl-pooling all over. But before Hill’s statement came up, Tua had a great impression of the Grim Reaper. And one of Mahomes’ post-game appreciations for the Dolphins QB is something one needs to look on.

The comments from Patrick Mahomes came after the Kansas City Chiefs went up against the Miami Dolphins. Tua almost led his men to an unexpected win over the 2019-20-reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. However, they fell six points short after a 33-27 defeat. The Dolphins’ QB had an impressive play, bringing praise from Kansas City’s show stopper.

According to CBS Sports, “I think he’s — and I kind of talked about it earlier this week, but that veteran mindset. You can see when they were down in that game, he didn’t try to force it. He just took what was there and moved the ball down the field and found a way to get the game close. He’s going to continue to learn more and more [and] continue to get better and it’s a bright future for the Miami Dolphins. Just hopefully not too bright.”

In his seven games as the Dolphins‘ starting QB, Tagovailoa faced the game’s harshest opposition. Statistically, it was also his outstanding performance in his rookie campaign. Tagovailoa completed 28 of 48 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns. However, Tagovailoa threw his first career interception, allowing the Chiefs to win the game.

According to Chiefs Wire, compared to Tagovailoa’s 75.3 percent, Mahomes had the second-best adjusted completion percentage in the NFL in 2021 at 78.3 percent. In 2020, Mahomes outperformed Tagovailoa by a margin of 77.2 percentage points to 74.2 for the Dolphins quarterback. Compared to the league average that year, which was 76.3 percent, Tagovailoa’s accuracy was below average. Although the statistics are close, Hill is mistaken if we take his claims seriously.
