Michael Phelps is a legend in the sports fraternity. He holds the record for the most Olympic gold medals won by a single person. While everyone has their favorite teams in whichever sport they follow, when a legend affirms being a fan, it creates waves.

And Phelps created similar waves back in 2016 when he snubbed a reporter at a press conference for wearing the gear of the Ravens‘ divisional rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Is that a Steelers… Oh man, gah-lee,” Phelps asked the reporter. “There we go, there’s some Ravens (gear) … man, Steelers … Football season is back,” he went on to say while turning away from the said reporter.

“I always think we’re going to beat Pittsburgh. That’s the obvious answer. But I think one of the cool things about that, we always play each other really hard, and as much as I’m not a Steelers fan, the games are really exciting,” Phelps continued as the moderator turned to the next reporter for questions.

Ravens’ season so far

Michael Phelps would be very happy with how the Ravens’ season has gone so far this year. The team has won five out of the eight games they have played. The biggest scalp of all those was probably the game week eight win over Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Granted that the Bucs have struggled this season with Brady facing problems off the field. But it still doesn’t take away anything from the performance put up by the Ravens.

Led by QB Lamar Jackson, the Ravens took the field with the top spot in the division up for grabs. And they dispatched the Bucs back to Tampa, handing them their fifth defeat of the season.

Jackson had a good 238-yard game against the Bucs defense. He completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts, with no interception at all. Jackson also threw two touchdown passes in the game. The Ravens won 27-22.

The win took the Ravens to the top of the AFC North table. And what will make Phelps happier still is the fact that the Steelers are at the bottom of the table with just two wins out of a possible seven to this point.
