The ‘New Heights’ podcast has been an amazing source of entertainment for a lot of football fans. They have gone on to showcase a lot of exclusive content from inside the league. Furthermore, the hosts, Jason and Travis Kelce have been the pinnacle of entertainment through it. They’ve even gotten closer due to it. Recently, on a live version of the podcast, the brothers revealed some exciting information that concerns an exciting new opportunity for Travis that brought on a lot of laughter.

The episode involved Patrick Mahomes, the Kelce brothers, and the previous backup QB, Chad Henne. While on the show, the two ended up revealing a funny incident of the past between Travis and Henne as well as a funny offer the tight end had.

Could there be a new backup QB for the Chiefs?

Chad Henne used to be the veteran backup QB for the Chiefs. However, after winning a Super Bowl in 2022 while being led by Patrick Mahomes, Henne decided to go into retirement. However, after his retirement, there remained a job opening for the backup quarterback position. This is where Kelce’s hilarious offer came in.

While on the show, Henne spoke about his first brief interaction with Kelce. Here, he mentioned the short and amusing stint Kelce had as a quarterback. Henne mentioned how Kelce had been in the quarterback’s room with him while they were in college. He also described the hilarious interaction and went on to mention how he had no inkling of who Kelce was. Furthermore, Kelce also joked about taking up Henne’s spot as a backup quarterback after his retirement.

His statement was definitely humorous considering the kind of success he has had as a tight end for the Chiefs. However, the tight end reportedly did have a small stint as a quarterback in high school.

How good was Travis Kelce as a quarterback?

Kelce got his first break as a quarterback in junior high. As he showcased some promise, he was given the role of a QB in his first year. There was a dichotomy of success and failure in his first year. Kelce was able to impress people with his dual-threat abilities. However, in his senior year, Kelce, the QB had an impressive season. He ended his high school season with 1,523 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Furthermore, Kelce also went on to rush for 1,016 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. He ended up playing the role of a college QB successfully for a while but eventually ended up switching to tight end due to his natural talent.

All in all, his switch to tight end enabled him to bring his natural talents to the field in a strategic manner. Years after high school and college, the tight end utilized these skills to win not just one but two Super Bowls. It only remains to be seen if he’ll win a third in the 2023 season.
