The Ravens fans have been rallying behind paying Lamar Jackson a lucrative new contract. This groundswell of support began even before the NFL season started. Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller endorsed Jackson for the title. While former Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman criticized the Ravens’ front office for not getting a deal done. NBA stars James Harden and Ja Morant also showed their support, with Morant even tweeting that the Ravens needed to pay Jackson “RIGHT NOW.” Even Jackson’s opponents, like New York Giants, linebacker Jihad Ward, have campaigned for the 26-year-old quarterback. Now, the Hampden-headquartered Charmery ice cream shop’s new ice cream flavor is co-owner David Alima’s version of dessert activism.

The team tweeted Lamar’s efforts to serve a neighborhood with a video captioned, “When Lamar treats everyone to ice cream, you can’t say no!! 🍨🍦 @Lj_era8 #FundayWithLJ,” offering his flavor, a caramel-and-peanut-butter ice cream topped with roasted peanuts and chocolate chips. This dessert release came after the team decided to put a non-exclusive franchise tag on the MVP quarterback. The Charmery’s owners expressed their optimism with this gesture. They’re hoping the team would realize the immense desire of the fans to retain Jackson in Baltimore. Alas, the truck was a hit, and fans had much to say.

‘The Flock’ Flocking Towards Jackson

The “Pay Lamar” ice cream is revolutionizing the support, but like all great ideas, this one, too, came at one. While hanging out with friends at Mick O’Shea’s, Alima saw a news report stating that Jackson still needed to sign a contract. He was inspired to create a flavor in honor of him, as he said, “deserves every bit of money that he feels he deserves. Whatever he thinks he’s worth, I agree with him.” And it won’t be wrong to say the flock agrees to support Smiley Face. A fan wrote, “Lamar Jackson handing ice cream man $200. Me at the front of the line: “50 snowcones, 50 rocket pieces, and 50 Spongebob Squarepants icecreams!” while another said, “Good stuff right there🙌🏾🙌🏾.”

Fans even appreciated Lamar saying, “@Lj_era8, your one of the coolest dudes for doing this for the community. You inspire and help so many young kids and help build them a bright future showing them hope and love, truly game-changing and off the field much respect, ✊💜”. One wrote how “That’s my quiet quarterback doing Lamar things. If QB is eating, everybody is eating, even the kids. Lj’s hair looks fresh and neat; good leadership with OBJ and Zay there too. I just can’t wait for a family fun day here in Baltimore. It’s the start of football for me.”
