‘Nothing to Hide’ – Daniel Ricciardo Reveals the Term of His Contract with Mclaren F1

Daniel Ricciardo is preparing to debut for McLaren this season. Over the last two years at Renault, the Australian helped improve the French team’s performance. The papaya team signed Ricciardo hoping that the he can help take the Woking outfit back to the top of the podium.
Speaking during the car launch presentation, the Australian talked about how long he has to make that happen; Ricciardo revealed his association with McLaren will last for a minimum term of three years.
“I have nothing to hide, I have signed for three years, and I think that is enough time to reap the benefits of what we will do, I have the impression that I have arrived at the right time.”

“I feel a positive momentum within the team and I don’t think it is due only to the results they achieved in 2020, but also to the solidity of the team,” Ricciardo shared.

Towards the end of 2018, Ricciardo was looking to move from Red Bull. He was scouting other teams, and that was when he had his first talks with the Woking outfit. During the presentation, he explained why he did not join the team back then.

“I had first talked to McLaren in 2018, but at the time I don’t think Andreas (Seidl) had already made it to the team, and neither was James Key, so it was still a settling team, they were working to shape it. he has today,” he explained.

May 27, 2018, was the last time Daniel Ricciardo won a race. The Australian will aim to get back on top of the podium this year, hoping that the Mercedes-powered McLaren will give him the boost needed to do so.

The three-year contract means that Ricciardo will drive for the team through 2022 technical regulations, which will give him his best shot at multiple wins.
