Graduation ceremonies are typically marked by speeches and applause, but one UC Berkeley athlete completely stole the show in a way no one saw coming. At just 21 years old, this senior gymnast has been making waves not only for her incredible performances but also for her academic achievements. Born January 29, 2004, and training out of Erial, New Jersey’s Parkettes National Gymnastics Center, she’s a true standout in women’s artistic gymnastics. But on her graduation day, instead of just walking across the stage, she stunned everyone by moving, making the crowd erupt in cheers.
The athlete who made headlines with a viral graduation moment is eMjae Frazier. Instead of a typical walk across the stage, eMjae surprised everyone by nailing a flawless front aerial flip and then bowing with style, leaving the crowd in awe. To top it off, her sister Margzetta proudly shouted, “That’s my sister!” which only added to the excitement and made the moment unforgettable.
It was a perfect way to celebrate closing one chapter while stepping boldly into the next. Hailing from Erial, New Jersey, eMjae trained at the Parkettes National Gymnastics Center under coaches Bill and Donna Strauss. Her gymnastics journey began early, inspired by her older sister, Margzetta, a former UCLA gymnast. eMjae’s dedication led her to become a standout at UC Berkeley, where she competed for the California Golden Bears.

Wherever she goes, one thing is clear: this California gymnastics star is just getting started, and the best is yet to come. And while her future is bright, it was that unforgettable graduation day flip that left the gymnastics world stunned.

eMjae Frazier leaves Cal Gymnastics fans speechless
One fan couldn’t have said it better: “Genius! So effortless ❤️ Cal will miss you!” And seriously, how could they not? Since day one, eMjae Frazier has been that girl for the California Golden Bears. In her freshman year, she made history as the first Cal gymnast ever to score a perfect 10.0 on floor. Just when you thought it couldn’t get better, she hit a 10.0 on beam in her sophomore season, dropping all-around scores of 39.700 or higher seven times (including a record 39.825), and stacked up 49 routines that scored 9.900 or above.
Like, what? That’s insane. But eMjae’s magic wasn’t just about big numbers. Her presence helped elevate Cal gymnastics to heights they’d never seen. With her leading the charge, the Bears finished seventh at Nationals in 2023, then soared to second place in 2024. She once said she chose Cal because she wanted to help make history, and that’s exactly what she did. So yeah, when fans say they’ll miss her, they mean it.

She wasn’t just part of the team… she was part of the legacy. One more fan chimed in after that viral graduation flip: “So smooth, so clean 😍🔥.” Another added, “Was that @margzetta yelling ‘that’s my sister’ 😂😍” and yep, it was. In the crowd, you could hear Margzetta Frazier, formerly a UCLA gymnast and eMjae’s biggest supporter. The sisters never shared a uniform, but they have always stayed very close.
The reason eMjae chose a California school, in part, was because Margzetta was based there. Once, she said she loves her sister, although everyone already mixes them up. What’s even better than these classroom experiences? The sister school! Eventually, that “sister school” became UC Berkeley, and both teams, wearing blue and gold on the field, were always supporting one another. In the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the Frazier sisters competed on the same team for the first time since their childhood, since Cal and UCLA met in dual meets.
But behind all the flips, scores, and spotlight, there’s a lot of heart. “I will tell everyone that my sister is my biggest role model,” eMjae said. “She actually is the reason I am where I am in gymnastics. She’s just the sister who’s been there the whole time and has made me into who I am. Having her support and her confidence in me—it’s so awesome.”

And honestly, watching the way Margzetta cheered her on during that graduation moment? The feeling is mutual. Fans couldn’t get enough of the moment, flooding the comments with pure excitement. “BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!!!👏🔥😂🙌” one fan wrote, while another gushed, “Love it!! Congratulations, @emjaefrazier, we will miss you so much! 💙💛🎉” and one more simply put it: “Graduated in style.”
And honestly, how else would you expect eMjae Frazier to do it? The 2024 NCAA team silver medalist, 2022 Winter Cup floor champion, and member of the 2021 World Championships team has never been one to do things halfway. Whether it’s on the podium or walking the graduation stage, she shows up with power, grace, and unforgettable energy every single time.
