The highly anticipated debut of the Jade Carey-led SI Women’s Games has hit a pause, sparking fresh conversations across the sporting world. According to Gymnastics Now, SI Women’s Games stated, “We have made the decision to postpone the inaugural SI Women’s Games to ensure it is delivered to the standard it deserves as a global showcase of women athletes from the US and around the world. Our priority is to create the best experience for all our participating athletes, fans and partners, and we believe that moving the event back will allow us to solve the logistical challenges we faced to best deliver on that promise.”
Previously, they scheduled the SI Women’s Games to entertain the fans from October 28, 2025, to November 2, 2025. So, when can we watch Jade Carey and Kaylia Nemour compete in the Team USA vs. Team World-themed tournament now? Well, Sports Illustrated has yet to make an official announcement on that. Yet, most fans believe it will be a banger of an event. But then again, what’s so special about the SI Women’s Games?

The Sports Illustrated Women’s Games will feature six sports: basketball, tennis, volleyball, flag football, judo and wrestling, and gymnastics. In each sport, Team America will compete against Team World. Fans will see the quality of American athletes in these sporting disciplines. Designed to showcase the top-tier athletes, the postponement bewildered multiple fans. The announcement of the delay came a month ago, but SI confirmed it recently.

The event, which is being prepared to be staged internationally, would welcome fans and athletes worldwide. Although there is no reason for the delay, the fans’ disappointment became evident after they launched the ticket sales. Furthermore, Steve Cannella, the Editor in Chief of Sports Illustrated, also shared his views on the tournament. According to him, it was nothing short of a groundbreaking movement. He was simply excited to celebrate women in sports on and off the court. Even Sloane Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion and 2018 Roland Garros runner-up, expressed her excitement regarding the SI Women’s Games. Unfortunately, things will have to wait a bit.
