The 2024 Paris Olympics set our hopes high for the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics National Championships. For starters, Simone Biles made a comeback after a two-year hiatus, following her major stance in Tokyo. But Biles wasn’t alone. While Biles claimed three golds and one silver, Hezly Rivera, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Suni Lee turned the audience’s heads to America’s ‘Golden Girls’.
The 2024 Olympics were a historic moment for the men’s team as well. After all, the U.S. men’s team won an Olympic medal after 16 years! Stephen Nedoroscik became a viral sensation following his pommel horse stance, and Brody Malone’s return from the gruesome injury to a bronze victory shattered all doubts surrounding the team. These athletes proved that the gymnastics fans had something to look up to at the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics National Championships. But fate seemed to have different plans.
With just one day left for the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics National Championships to commence, we stumbled across a shocking revelation on Ticketmaster. Even with the upper sections of the stadium closed off, a significant number of tickets are yet to be sold for every single session of every single division. And the price for the tickets for the women’s finals on 10th August? They are as low as $21.20 (Now showing $30) for the Junior Women’s session, and around $47 for the Senior Women’s session.

The reason for this vacancy can be directly linked to the absence of star power in the line-up. There’s no Simone Biles to attract cheers or Jordan Chiles to impress us with her acrobatics. But there’s more to the story than the absence of star performers from the Paris Olympics.

And the fans were quick to notice that when Inside Gym shared the status of the ticket sales for the Xfinity U.S. Championships through an Instagram post. So, what did the fans have to say?
Fans claim Simone Biles’ absence and other factors affected the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Championships
Needless to say, people would have loved it if Simone Biles were to perform on the 10th of August. She didn’t just perform at the events. She elevated the crowd at the previous Xfinity events with her off-the-chart skills and breathtaking moves. Even her husband, Jonathan Owens, brought a lot of energy to the cheers with his presence in the crowds. One fan weighed in on this and wrote, “Simone was the reason these things sold out over the last 10 years. USA Gymnastics doesn’t have a stand out star nowadays!” Another fan added, “No Simon bile , not interested.”

Many others were upset about the absence of the stars from the Paris Olympics. A fan commented, “Not surprising, most if not all the Olympians are not competing and usagym do not have a breakout star atm.” Even though names like Hezly Rivera, Nedoroscik and Malone were still in the line-up, many fans considered it weak. A comment read, “This is the weakest USA gymnastics has been since 1999.” Of course, the netizens want action and a flabbergasting performance that only stars like Biles can deliver.
What’s your perspective on:
Without Simone Biles, is USA Gymnastics losing its star power and fan appeal?
Have an interesting take?
But the absence of stars isn’t the only thing that hampered the ticket sales, according to the fans. One fan pointed out, “Might be because schools are starting up 🤷🏻♀️.” Previously, the Xfinity Championships were held in May or June. August is usually the period when all billboards advertise back-to-school campaigns. This conflicted with family vacations and holidays, leading to poor ticket sales. Another reason might be the change in location. Well, New Orleans hadn’t hosted the Xfinity Championships since 1995. One fan commented, “If only I lived closer to there!!!” Another fan simply wrote, “The date and city would be helpful. But I’ll google.” But what do you think? Why did the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics National Championships fail to sell out on the final day?
