A horse race that has been running for more than a century? Yeah, it is the Kentucky Derby. Held since 1875, it takes place annually on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Now, as the sun of May 3 rises over America, the horses are being warmed up, and so is the GOAT of gymnastics. But why Simone Biles? That’s because the 7-time Olympic Gold medalist is set to give the “Riders Up” call ahead of the 151st running of the event. Now, for an opportunity like this, you wouldn’t want to delay just a bit. But something did come up at the airport, and the gymnast had to take a pause. What was that?

Simone Biles uploaded a story on Instagram from the international Houston airport, called the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. While the top of the story had “on my way to louisville for Kentucky derby” written over it, it was the photo and the words at the bottom of the story that caught the fans’ attention. “and I finally got to see my restaurant at the airport!!!!!!,” wrote the 11 time Olympic medalist on her story as she posed in front of wall at the airport in her all black outfit – black hoodie, black sweat pants, pairing them with white shoes.

But this wasn’t just any wall. The wall, which was painted like the American flag, had a gymnast painted in between her routines. Any guesses who the gymnast is? Well, a no-brainer, it’s Simone Biles herself. The wall also had “COMING SOON SIMONE BILES TASTE OF GOLD” written over it in big, bold letters. Taste of Gold is a Tex-Mex eatery by the gymnast, located inside IAH’s Terminal A near gate A8. The announcement came back in 2024 and was reported to cost around 400k.

I am a foodie at heart, and our hope with Taste of Gold is to offer a beautiful Tex-Mex dining experience that features award-winning, signature menu items with some of my favorite flavors sprinkled in for our guests,” Biles said in a statement. In a press release that followed, it was announced that the restaurant would be celebrating the global achievement of the gymnast. The menu will feature signature food and beverage items curated by restaurant industry innovator Mark Brezinski and will be created to ‘wow’ every traveler.

Simone Biles’ quality time with husband Jonathan Owens

Uploading a picture of Simone on his Instagram story on May 2, 2025, Owens wrote, “She is freaking hilarious😂” Why would he say that, you wonder? Well, maybe because it’s Biles herself. In the picture posted by the NFL safety, the gymnast with 7 Olympic gold medals can be seen posing amusingly, hands on her waist while head tilted slightly back, lips pursed, and shoulders square.

The GOAT gave off pure sassy vibes. She had on gray sweatpants, a black oversized hoodie, paired with white shoes. This was before the two boarded the flight to Kentucky. Once in Louisville, the couple has been having the time of their lives as seen in Biles’ story. In one of her stories, the couple can be seen vibing to songs, where the two of them are facing rap music, with Simone even lip-syncing the lyrics.

In her very next story, Biles is being taught how to dance. Yes, you heard that right. The story shows the couple dancing with Biles, and the text over it reads, “jonathan tryna teach me the Tamia shuffle.” The Tamia Shuffle, also known as the “Can’t Get Enough” line dance, is a popular and energetic line dance set to Tamia’s song Can’t Get Enough. In another story, the two were enjoying a drink, Biles posted their picture with drinks in their hands writing, “our first mint julep.” A Mint Julep is a classic bourbon-based cocktail known for its refreshing combination of fresh mint, bourbon, and simple syrup, all served over crushed ice. Have you ever tried one? Let us know how it tastes. Also, what do you think of the couple’s dance moves? The comment section is all yours.
