Neil deGrasse Tyson praised Japan for hosting the Olympics

Neil deGrasse Tyson took to Twitter to laud the country for taking this bold step even in the face of a pandemic. He wrote, “The Opening Ceremonies of the Tokyo Olympics, with 206 countries, has salvaged and celebrated whatever dignity remains in this World after 18-months of viral invasion, fear, ignorance, hatred, and loss. Thank you Japan.”

Athletes were hoping for that mental edge that crowd support can fuel. But it seems as if they will have to compete in silence. However, this is not too different from their training sessions over the lockdown period.
