When Quincy Wilson struggled during his 4x400m relay leg at the 2024 Paris Olympics, veteran Vernon Norwood stepped in with calm assurance, promising, “I’m going to get you a gold medal.” Since then, Norwood has guided Wilson through his rapid rise, encouraging him to stay disciplined and focused. He has publicly praised Wilson’s record-breaking 400m runs, reinforcing a well-structured mentorship. Now, Norwood has stepped forward with an interesting proposal for the young sprinter.

Wilson recently took to Instagram and shared a picture of himself along with Vernon Norwood and Bennie Brazell. And all three of them held out their hands to denote an ‘L’ for the Louisiana State University. In the caption, the youngest male US track Olympian wrote, “thank you Coach Bennie and [Vernon Norwood] for coming to talk to my family and I, about what LSU has to offer! #geauxtigers #notcommitted.”

Now facing a pivotal career decision, Wilson is considering offers from Florida, Texas A&M, and Tennessee, but has opted against turning professional for now. He’s also touring and exploring his options at the University of Georgia and Texas Tech University. But he’s yet to come to a decision. Instead, he aims to refine his technique and build maturity before entering elite ranks. But while Quincy Wilson faces a bit of confusion prior to his collegiate career, Norwood seemed focused on making him a Tiger. He took to the comments section and wrote, “GEAUX TIGERS! 🫵🏾”

Fans are commending LSU’s move to bring Quincy Wilson into their team

Given the nature of their relationship, LSU’s decision came across as a clear power move. A few fans believed that this move was already successful in bringing Wilson into the Geaux Tigers. One comment read, “The OG Pulled Up…Yup LSU Loading.” Another fan added to the notion and wrote, “I luv seeing Unc on the home visit.’ As an alumnus from LSU, Norwood never really went too far away from the college. After concluding his collegiate career in 2015, he returned as a volunteer assistant coach in 2022, marking his loyalty to the college. One fan highlighted Norwood’s affinity towards LSU and wrote, “Vernon gone always advocate for LSU igh unc.”

The comment went like, “Forever LSU GEAUX 🐯 TIGERS…. You already know what comes with LSU… you already have star power, but LSU would def elevate that🤘🏽.”

Furthermore, the fellow American sprinter, Masai Russell, an alumnus from the University of Kentucky, gave a shoutout to Norwood for the home visit. She wrote, “Ok [Vernon Norwood] at the home visit !!” Additionally, Ryan Clark claimed, “You know the move lil bro!!” The move? Of course, getting into LSU. But little did the four-time Olympic medalist (in relay events) know that the fans wouldn’t look away from his home visit to recruit Quincy Wilson. Do you think Wilson will accept the offer? How far can he go in case he actually accepts the deal?
