Phil Mickelson is currently competing at the Saudi International and is a part of the star-studded Asian Tour field this week. Notably, along with Phil, there are players like Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, and Bubba Watson competing as well. Moreover, Mickelson has had a decent start as he shot 67 and remained -3 for the day. 

Meanwhile, the controversial Saudi-backed Super Golf league is once again making the headlines as they have approached a few top players this week. And according to Golf Digest, Phil isn’t happy with the PGA Tour. In fact, rumor has it that he is also looking for alternatives to the PGA Tour. And if that’s the case, the Saudi-backed Super Golf League could certainly benefit from that.

Phil Mickelson had recently revealed that he wasn’t happy with the PGA Tour. “The media rights are but a small fraction of everything else. And it is the tour’s obnoxious greed that has opened the door for opportunities elsewhere,” said Mickelson as reported by Golf digest. He believes PGA Tour is greedy, which is why the opportunities from elsewhere are coming.

Moreover, Brooks Koepka, who refused to compete at the Saudi International, came across this statement on Golf Digest’s Instagram. He commented the same and took a dig at the 2021 PGA Championship winner. He wrote, “DK [don’t know] if I’d be using the word greedy if I’m Phil……”

Meanwhile, the Super Golf League is once again making the headlines, as along with Phil, there are players like Bryson DeChambeau, Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson, who have received a lucrative offer. 

However, there is no news about any player accepting the offer made by the Saudis yet. Notably, if a player accepts this offer from Saudis, then mostly they will face a ban from the PGA, DP World Tour, and the Ryder Cup as well.
