A tough opening game for Rafa, as Medvedev, faced a break point on Rafa’s serves. With elongated rallies in the first game, the top-seeded Spaniard made a wobbly hold. Playing a flawless game on his first serves, the World Number ten landed on 1-1 by dropping just a point.

Erroneous tennis was exhibited by Medvedev and Rafael Nadal effortlessly led by 4-0 in the second set. Rafa had bright chances to take a 5-0 lead, but the Russian saved it with an ace. However, relentless hitting from Nadal forced his Russian opponent to make mistakes and with Rafa converting the break point the Spaniard advanced to serve of his Rogers Cup 2019 title with a 5-0 lead and later, he didn’t take much time to defend the first hard-court title of his career and bageled Medvedev while he pulled off the title.
