Matthijs de Ligt was signed by Juventus in 2019 after a spectacular season with Ajax. The former Juventus star played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo for two years before Ronaldo left to join Manchester United. De Ligt also left the Turin club last summer to join Bayern Munich. Known to be a big admirer of CR7, De Ligt switched his alliance and picked Lionel Messi while confusing him to have retired in a video that has gone viral. This comes as a shock as the Argentinean is having a great run with his new team Inter Miami.

Bayern Munich are in a good form under the managerial ship of Thomas Tuchel. Although De Ligt finds himself behind the likes of Kim Min-Jae and Dayot Upamecano in the starting order, the Dutch player, had a great run in Bayern’s last fixture against Bochum. Now, the player has banged with not-so-normal confusion.

Bayern’s X (formerly known as Twitter) handle recently posted a video asking their players to choose a retired player they would have loved to play with. In the video, De Ligt is seen naming Lionel Messi as the player he wanted to play with. This comes as a shock since being a big fan of Messi, the Dutch player is unaware of Messi’s worldly feats in Miami.

Inter Miami has witnessed a resurgence after the arrival of Lionel Messi. However, De Ligt seems to be completely unaware of the heights Messi’s taking Miami to single-handedly. It can be an honest mistake by the Dutch defender but it comes across as a bit naive. The Argentinean won Miami their first silverware by winning the Leagues Cup this year.
