Erling Haaland is being targeted for his poor display against Tottenham over the weekend. While he managed to set up the third goal from Jack Grealish, the striker couldn’t find a goal for himself. In fact, not only did he miss the easy chances, but out of the total five shots he took in the match, neither of them was on target.
Notably, his surprising form became a topic of debate at ESPN FC, where a correspondent asked USMNT legend and pundit Janusz Michallik if it was Haaland’s off day. Interestingly, Michallik replied, “I don’t think it was an issue of Erling Haaland today; it was just an issue of not finishing number of chances and again I think this is more of a story about Spurs than Manchester City.”

Additionally, Michallik expressed his confidence in Haaland for upcoming games. “Would Haaland play better? Yeah, but you know what’s going to happen next game. He’s going to get his one, two, or three, and that’s never going to end. He’s gonna defend himself by scoring goals.” It seems Michallik isn’t worried about Haaland’s dipping form and reckons he’ll get back on track.
While many, including Haaland, are accusing referee Simon Hooper of changing the course of the game, Bernardo Silva came in defense of the official.
