Usually, the debate is about choosing between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, a soccer star has gone the opposite route by including both, among his favorite attacking players. Quite a show of courage considering this star’s affiliation with Barcelona. Yet, interestingly, he has chosen to avoid two of the best young players of this generation, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. An interesting omission, considering his previous verdict in 2022.

Despite their age, Lionel Messi and Ronaldo are still setting the benchmarks in soccer. The Inter Miami ace recently won the Ballon d’Or while CR7 finished 2023 as the leading goalscorer. Hence, it seems, just like the former Manchester City star, many still consider the duo among the world’s elite.

Ferran Torres names 3 Barcelona stars, including icon Lionel Messi in his Top 5

Spain & Blaugrana forward Ferran Torres recently revealed his 5 favorite forwards, and the list was fairly surprising. Besides the obvious inclusion of Lionel Messi, the 23-year-old chose an iconic player of Barcelona’s biggest rival, Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo. Interestingly, Torres has previously taken CR7’s name and admitted to wanting to ‘follow his steps‘ while on the brink of joining the English Premier League.

He also chose current teammate Robert Lewandowski and club legend David Villa in his list. However, he didn’t mention Luis Suarez & Samuel Eto’o both of whom are among the Top 5 goalscorers in the club’s history. The list was lastly rounded off by Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, who is enjoying a stunning debut season in the Bundesliga.

It’s not Suarez & Eto’o who are the big absentees. Rather, it is the fact that Ferran avoided naming Kylian Mbappe, who is currently considered among the best players in the world. Quite strange, considering how highly he rated the Frenchman in a previous interview.

Kylian Mbappe has always been a reference for Ferran Torres!

Ferran Torres knows quite well the quality of Kylian Mbappe. The Spaniard faced the lethal striker in the Nations League Final in 2021, where the Frenchman scored to help France win the title. Later, Torres expressed his admiration for the PSG attacker by stating that Mbappe is a player from whom he has tried to learn from.

That’s not all. He also claimed that he could compete with Mbappe & Haaland by expressing confidence in his abilities. As per Torres, his hard work and discipline are what will propel him to their heights. The hard work does seem to be paying off as the Spaniard is already having his best-ever season at Barcelona in terms of goals.
