Robert Lewandowski is synonymous with the word legendary in Bayern Munich. And to receive comparisons with him so early is a great testament to Harry Kane’s ability and goal-scoring prowess. As Harry Kane embarks on his new journey, the future seems to look bright for the star, according to expert Kevin Hatchard. He also feels that the Englishman will reach one of Lewandowski’s toughest season-based landmarks with Bayern Munich.

There was never a doubt about the ex-Tottenham man’s ability throughout his time in England. He, along with Son Heung-min, have been a major reason for the club’s resilience for the last 8 years. However, the Spurs’ top scorer with 278 goals wanted a new challenge, which he is proving to ace, and is also on the way to breaking records.

It isn’t even half a season yet, and people are already estimating what achievements the English soccer captain is destined for. Harry Kane’s 24 goals in 21 matches in all competitions this season have already taken fans by surprise. Meanwhile, Hatchard feels that the Polish veteran’s record of most German Bundesliga goals in a single season is being targeted by his English replacement. Speaking to talkSPORT, he said, “He’s got that hunger, he’s got that desire to score goals. He plays it down, but he wants to break Lewandowski’s record.”

Robert Lewandowski created history in the 2020–2021 season when he scored 41 goals in the German top tier. But Hatchard is optimistic about Harry Kane breaking it, claiming him to be on the ‘track to do that’. The claim is unsurprising since it is backed by the fact that the Englishman is a goal ahead at the 14th match point in the league with 20. Hatchard also claimed that Lewandowski was 19 at the same point.

However, there is a long way to go, and the league is expected to get daunting as it reaches the latter stages. However, Kane’s hunger to score goals can propel him to give his best shot going ahead. Even though rated highly, the star doesn’t get his due felt the pundit.

Harry Kane has been performing at the topmost level for many years now. However, this year, he seems to be flying higher than ever. Despite his long list of achievements and records, the player is overlooked as the best in the world. Hatchard also claims his eschewed publicity to be the main reason.

In the era of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, top goal scorers like Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane will have considered themselves a bit unlucky. With a total of 633 and 380 goals, respectively, the lethal goalscorers still fall short by a long way from both CR7 and Messi’s incredible feats.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
